sad day...lost one of my SAMSUNG HDD suddenly....out of nothing the 1.5TB died..after i manage to arrange some files (lucky i was able to transfer around 300GB of file)

try to retrieve using apps but cant do much, just not able to read anything at all. serious damage..send warranty to samsung in PJ and must wait at least 1 month or more to get new replacement...

this is what happen when u abuse the HDD too much !

did you try cold state recovery...

my boss did it once and he manage to recover all the data

this is what he did...

put your HDD in the freezer for 1 day

take it out and quickly transfer all the data

shortly after transfer all the data the HDD will be dead... but hey he got all his data!!!

Try this:
http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk

But you have to rename the files again....most recovery software is same...but its gonna take you a few hours to recover if your drive is huge

Firmware Beta2.5 is released to beta testers:

A new beta has been released to the testers today, it introduces the new Xtreamering option which holds all the community projects under one section:

1. “Xtreamering” menu added replacing “Movie Jukebox” .
- It contains almost all user created packages like Jukebox, xVoD, xLive, XTPhotos, Kartina TV, Rodno TV, Games etc along with online channels provided officially, News, weather and photo sharing sites
- “Xtreamering” is auto upgradeable online package
- Each sections which should run from HDD is auto downloadable.
- User can auto upgrade each section by just selecting that particular section and pressing “1” button, even you can upgrade “Xtreamering” package by selecting “Disclaimer” and pressing “1” from Remote control
- There is a section named “Online Upgrade” which also provides upgrade functionality along with Firmware upgrade
- As Xtreamering runs from HDD/USB (sda or sda1 partition), if no HDD/USB present it will auto redirect to “Internet” section (previous Internet menu)

2. “Internet Radio” moved to main menu replacing “Internet” section

darn...IMHO thats not firmware upgrade but merely an extension or additional plugin..

they should have concentrate on the actual problem like HDMI issue, the TrueHD in MKV, 1080p in 60HZ issue, HD sound that has serious compatibility issue with certain AVR (buzzing sound) etc

I still using the ancient Win XP biggrin.gif . But the problem is the more you use your computer, the less chance of recovery because the missing files space might be overwritten by newer files.

You accidently deleted the profile or was it due to some corruption?

You need to find a recovery software to see if your files are still there. Get one of those free trial software, just to see if the files are still visible (trial version will only list the deleted files for you to see, but won't allow you to recover) . Then later you can decide whether to get a full version or not.

But right now try not to use the computer if you can.

Release notes for FW Ver2.5.2 (from Ver2.4.2)

New features and improvements

1. A new section called Xtreamering was added to the main menu replacing “Movie Jukebox” . It contains various user created packages such as Movie Jukebox, xVoD, xLive, XTPhotos, xKartina - ipTV, xRodnoe - ipTV, xGames etc along with online channels provided officially, news, weather and photo sharing sites. Upgrades for the official firmware and various packages can also be found here.

- “Xtreamering” is an auto upgradeable online package.

- Each sections is auto downloadable.

- User can auto upgrade each section by just selecting that particular section and pressing “1” button,

even you can upgrade “Xtreamering” package by selecting “Disclaimer” and pressing “1” from Remote control

- There is a section named “Online Upgrade” which also provides upgrade functionality along with Firmware upgrade

2. As Xtreamering runs from HDD/USB (sda or sda1 partition), if no HDD/USB present it will auto redirect to “Internet” section (previous Internet menu)

3. Sub-folder playback. Pressing “Play” button from any root directory will play all the files from that folder and subfolders recursively

- For example : If you go to “Media Library->HDD” and press “Play” button all the files of “Xtreamer (C:) (/sda1)” will be played continuously

- If the root (..) chosen it will play all the files (including files of subfolders) of that drive

- If some folder chosen it will play all the files (including files of subfolders) of that folder

- “Movie”/”Music”/”Photo” tab will play corresponding type files

- “All” tab will play video files

4. “Internet Radio” was moved back to the Main menu replacing “Internet” section

5. The default value of “Setup->A/V->HDMI Chroma Sub-sampling Set” has been set to 4:4:4 for better HDMI compatibility

- After upgrade “Reset Defaults” needed to get this setting take effect.

Bug fixes:

6. The auto-updater preventing overwriting files that are bigger than the updated file. Fixed.

7. Samba shares are not working with Windows 7+Windows Live Essen 2011. Partial fix.

- Now Samba shares from Windows 7 with Windows Live Essen 2011 are accessible from “Media Library->NET” section

- From “Media Library-> Network Shares” - still working on the full solution.
