From the pictures of the socket seems like the Digital Audio output using Digital Coaxial instead of TOSLINK...so better make sure if you wanna fix it to your amp.

Well...everyday there is new technology that is better and cheaper (hehe...quality..I dunno)...so we embrace it...

Those that have WDTV if you are satisfied with it...well stick to it.
Or else there is always the garage sale thread smile.gif

Me, I personally love my sarotech media player except for some minor irritants...I'll wait for it to konk out before getting another player...after all, it plays all the mkv that I download smoothly (but mkv videorate must be less than 10,000kbps).

Yeah...true...how many times have you heard, that function like networking, wifi for media player are so hard to configure ppl. actually give up?...wht abt repairing it. Yeah...they also mention 95% mkv playability...sure?...some standard mkv files from popular bd-rippers still skips (for me I always avoid ESiR), what abt those humongous 30~40gb movie files?...then comes the never ending bugs!....well, members try to wait a little longer to see how things turn up..I'm sure if on paper and real life its true, lotsa ppl. are going to buy it and there will be lotsa reviews.

boot up time is quite impressive, less than 10 sec.

Added on July 12, 2009, 9:46 pm
for wired connection, 720p working fine, lagged for 10801p.

for wireless connection, i din try as it has been highlighted by other users it lagged even for 720p mkv.

anyway, there will be a firmware update in the couple of weeks to improve both wired and wireless network performance.
*
1080p mkv has many type....try those with videorate below 10,000kbps
Most of the time, this info is available in the nfo.

ps3mediaserver great... i'll give it a shot....can provide link??

guys...I saw some of u mention NAS...I am just using my PC to have 4 units of SATA HDD (500Gb each) to store all my medias and act as media server....what u guys use for NAS? Is it a stand alone unit with HDDs inside? What u guys can recommend? Do share some info coz I've been looking for something like a external case that I can put multiple (at least 4 units) HDDs and have a LAN connection or something to host my files.

For those using media player with docking station...its best to get 2.5inch hardisk rather than 3.5inch...yeah I know it cost double and current capacity goes to 500GB only.
Here is the reason, I've got a few of those..2.5 ones are much hardier...3.5 are like glass....drop a bit...hardisk kong...thats why many ppl using the hardisk 'naked' have experience with dead 3.5inch hdd. A drop of 2inch will spoil the drive.
For those insist on 3.5inch better get a Server class hdd like Hitachi Ultrastar (SATA support) as they are hardy stuff....or use WD green drives and keep it in NAS.

True lah, I have 1 unit 1TB Seagate Barracuda after transport from home to office, just kaput! mad.gif

Simple to say...3.5inch drives are not meant to be portable..unless its has a heavy duty casing which protect it from shocks.
If using it naked...better get 2.5inch drives.

just checking does Xtreamer's remote has button to change from 16:9 to 4:3 vice vesa?  As AC Ryan's remote doesn't have this...
*
most of the time...it will play depending on file loaded...if its 16:9, 4:3 or some funny ratio...

So if you want to play 4:3 on a 16:9 TV without side black bars, use the TV remote control.

usually, for most widescreen TV....its not only 16:9 or 4:3...

There are so many selections for aspect to choose from the TV remote:
Auto- to fill up the screen
16:9
4:3
Just
14:9
Zoom 1,2,3

Take note, this may differ depending on your TV or Inputs.
