You can park by the lake/roadside but it is considered illegal and you may get a fine for not parking in designated campervan sites.Hence the reason why I suggested you to think twice before renting one. |

My friend just came back from NZ..its a very beautiful country according to the picture they shared..but its 6k per head overall..

Went New Zealand 16D 15N self drive south island trip from 23/Nov-10/Dec, 2018 for a family with 2 adults and 2 kids. Rent Nissan Qashqai for this trip. Clocked 3138km mileage. Total spend about RM7500 per pax. Managed to capture my first star glazing photo at Tekapo.

I love NZ, but if you've been to the south island, the scenery in the north island is not as dramatic and won't wow you as much. My focus during my north island trip last year was more on culture and history.
Looks like I have to make the trip to the south island again some time soon. |
