Understand your pain, NZ is not a cheap country to visit.I still feel the stretch sometimes even earning AUD.

Yes, self-drive in NZ is the way to go.
Sooo many awesome places with nice scenery to stop by. U can't do that by taking bus or taking tours. |

Thanks for the suggestion.
Christchurch to Greymouth on train. I've planned to drive from Greymouth to Franz Josef Glacier then from there to Wanaka then to Queenstown. How's the scenery? Is there any winding roads like Cameron highlands? This post has been edited by MonsterJ9: Jan 17 2019, 04:24 PM |

QUOTE(MonsterJ9 @ Jan 17 2019, 03:49 PM) Thanks for the suggestion. West Coast scenery is stunning, even more so when you're about to reach Wanaka.Christchurch to Greymouth on train. I've planned to drive from Greymouth to Franz Josef Glacier then from there to Wanaka then to Queenstown. How's the scenery? Is there any winding roads like Cameron highlands? Winding roads yes, especially near the coastal area but nothing you can't handle |

Hi,
Is driving a campervan hard or dangerous? I like the fact that i can cook, wash and toilet all within a car. i would not prefer to keep paying for toilets, washing, sleeping area like what a campercar would |

And you will need to plan where to spend the night as campsites are limited at certain areas. |

Hmm.. i thought of staying at lake takepo for the night but part from powered sites (which requires some money) can i just park my campervan by the lake / roadside? It does cost quite a bit of money though so make a comparison before you commit to one. And you will need to plan where to spend the night as campsites are limited at certain areas.
