heading to NZ in the coming Nov but still clueless about few things. Hope forumer can help me here..

1. Visa. I will be transiting at Aus via AA and board Jetstar from Melbourne to QN. Since it's different airline, meaning i need to check out and move the luggage during transit. Do i need a transit visa for this?

2. Car rental. I been browsing and Discover Cars always prompt out. Their price is really good for a 7 seater compared to others. Did any of your tried using the website and face any issues? Thanks.

Speaking as an Aussie PR so a visa is not required for me, but if you’re a valid visa holder for NZ (the last time that I travelled to New Zealand as a non-Aussie PR, if I recall correctly it was Visa on arrival) and you are nearly doing a transfer from one flight to another, you will not need a valid Australian Visa.

The transfer terminal is considered international it will not be domestic. Meaning to say, if you land in terminal one, and you transfer to terminal two, both terminals will still be under international and you will not need a separate visa as you will not be exiting Australia.

This is different however, if for whatever reason, you have to exit the international terminal and pick things up to go to a domestic terminal. In a case like that you may require a separate Australian Visa. Is there an option for you to send through your package direct me to New Zealand?

Otherwise the two options are number one apply for an Australian ETA just to be on the safe side. Number two is to look for a through flight that allows you to check your baggage in and directly pick it up in New Zealand without having to exit the international terminal. Don’t be Pennywise pound foolish and spoiler and entire holiday because you find you’re stuck in the airport and cannot exit Australia.

Sorry, do you have the website of the car rental you’re talking about? I can check for you by trying to log in from my side.

I would expect you'll need an Aus ETA/visa as you need to clear Aus customs before proceeding to baggage claim upon arrival at MEL.

Two different airlines means u have to clear immigration and collect your luggage to check-in at Melb airport. Hence, transit visa is required. Refer to the snapshot

Hello,

My partner and I plan to travel to NZ this year and currently looking for tour packages.

We are both in our 50s so not keen to self-drive.

I have come across the ones from Sunway Travel and Apple Tour, and wondering if lyn forummers can recommend others?

Also prefer to get the tour agency from here, not keen on going there and getting those in NZ.

Thanks

How was the experience taking AA to Melbourne and Jetstar from Melb to QN? Did AA end up with flight delays? What was your transit time in between?

With both AA and JS being budget airlines, well I would say acceptable as we are tired and just sleep along the way.

Transit time 6 hours
