if i want to sign up for daily/hourly pass from maxis to surf net. i need to on 3G or Edge or both ??

U should switch 3G on - that should trigger EDGE to be switched on too, no?! Ah well.... might as well just toggle both on and off lah And use 3G cause it's faster *smiles*

my phone showed tat my last month usage was 26mb ++
but yesterday when the bill come,it charged me 700mb++(currently idata 2)
how can it be a HUGE gap like this?
or anything wrong with the counter at maxis?
wat can i do?

You have to take both upload + download. Also, are U sure U didn't reset your Usage? Did U JB ur phone?! 30MB & 700MB is a huge difference!

Nah u can't even complain. Listen to what they gonna tell u, end up paying them.
But yeah it's weird tho with that super huge different.

I don't think it's possible to go 'over' by so much; but U roughly will know if you did use so much or not; 700MB is indeed a lot - did U do a lot of downloads via your iPhone - esp App updates perhaps? Some apps can be really gigantic!

hmmm... if you didn't JB your phone then that is indeed weird (even I JB my phone, my data usage is quite accurate)

Are you sure you did not use that much? maybe you tethered forgot about it.. and then you did a restore etc etc .. if i am not wrong, restoring your phone clears the data you have used on the counters..

If you're data is disabled, how do U post comment on forum and on FB, unless you're on Wifi? If you aren't that means U haven't disabled 3G/EDGE on your phone. Posting comments via FB shouldn't take up much; viewing LYN will probably be more because there are more picture files and there isn't a mobile version for LYN - still, 700MB is wayyyyy overboard IMO.

I don't think that matters or affect how your data counters are updated.. if this is truly a recurring problem.. then I think maybe you should have your IPhone looked into.. cos so far for me and my friends, the data counter has been quite accurate (off by a few mb)

I somehow suspect something in the background is running; as tnsai has mentioned, it's really not *that* possible to go overboard by so much. I don't even use half of what you use in a month!

every data transfer will involve both download and upload...
the data usage should be accumulate the total, not just one of them

turn off ur auto notification
remove app that potentially used up data, but not in use all the time...
check if you hav Mail configured to always update from your SMTP/POP

I don't bother disabling APN since I've a data service plan; though I've done it before during the i3G days [that time, no data plan yet *grins*].

Will share this months' usage when I get it; bill cycle is 7th of the month. I also did track for Jul & August but I didn't write that down. If I'm not mistaken, Jul was like <25MB and August was <50MB

Lol thats quite little. Then i might have chosen the wrong plan.
I've chosen the iValue 2 which given 1gb free data. I didn't know how to estimate those data before this.
Shuld have take iValue 1 instead

Er but I wasn't using that much then; was still trying to get a feel of what I should do on the go plus like everyone else, I wasn't very sure how much 500MB would last me; actually, I was on the RM99 unlimited plan when I started but after having seen the amount of data usage, I decided to sign up for iData 2 and save my $ instead when I made the i3GS purchase via Maxis

Cyan7, 500mb is more then enough for normal surfing ...
