If it's a recurring problem and it happens to ALL the apps, then it is not normal. I have faced situations where my apps would 'hang' and subsequently close but it doesn't happen too often. It's even rarer on my i3GS so I only assume it's due to insuffice of RAM on the older model *shrugs*

If we disable the pdp_ip0, will it solve the problem for the data network ? meaning that we cant go to internet ?
How could we make it permanently run after each reboot ?



from here we know that en0 is the wifi interface, pdp_ip0 would be the data network. am i right ?

Paying for EDGE is super expensive. I seriously i cant bear the cost every single time.

i am facing 1 problem here.i already off both 3G and data roaming feature on my iphone.but recently the new bill i received stated that i was using about 23mb of data and it cost me about RM200!!is it because i was using my edge to online?

i always only download or online when wifi is available,how do i know during online,i was really using my wifi connection instead or phone network to online?sometimes i saw wifi icon on the taskbar,sometimes i saw a little circle icon on my taskbar which i dont know what is that for also.

please help

Little circle is Egde. Both Edge and 3G will costs you a bomb if you have no contract or plan on Data.

now i saw E edge icon on my dashboard.if using it make phone call is normal rate rite?abit worry now

Just to let you know, if you have turned on fakeApn.. you will still see the E or 3G icon at the top of your phone.. just that you won't be able to send/receive any data via E/3G .. so please take note that the presence of the icon doesn't mean that fakeAPN isn't working.

Best way to test, is to open a small website or open App store and see if it loads.. if it doesn't, then you are safe.

The best way is call maxis center n blacklist 3g service for ur no....u can unblacklist it once u need it...
At my house n office got wifi so no prob for me to blacklist mine

where the 32mb item ?

i saw the 187 being rebated only

thats why i curious why people prefer to buy iphone with no data plan as the pay per use is so espensive ... 1mb for RM10 ...

Close to the left (or rather in the middle of that same line) total data usage is stated.

Also, Maxis charges for data services are 1sen/kb but for those on plans, it's 0.5sen/kb.

Even you sign up for any iValue plan, you still wont be able to track how much you have use until you receive the bill.

You can personally try to call maxis and they wont be able to tell you how much data you have download/upload. All you can do is wait till you receive your bill and rely on the usage report (50% accurate) and "pray" that you have not exceed the limits for which ever plan you sign up.

I really hope they can improve this to allow us check. Is it so hard for them to have this service for such a big name company like Maxis?

It's a conspiracy theory on my part, but perhaps the lack of a "tracking" system is to let us go overzealous on our data usage and get charged a hefty sum? (As I said, it could be just me)

It really hurts you up where-the-sun-don't-shine too if you overuse your allocation. Seriously, since they are able to provide the data used in the bill, I really don't see any ethical reason they can't provide us our data used via, Hotline, online acc management or via the UMB(user menu browser)

I was charged RM8 while browsing through facebook through EDGE on a 2 minutes session :/

its also hard just to trace how much ive been using my data also. but i guess im pretty lucky since ive register for 500mb per month. i think i never exceed the 500mb eventhou i frequently use for surfing the net/youtube(on a moderate level) and using gps most of the time....
can our local apps developer develop sort of data tracer and collaborate with maxis about this? at least we know how much we're using every month.

even thou got cellular data on settings>general>usage, but its still kindda blurry and once u restore.... (like i did a couple of times....) i lost count of how much ive used and that's kindda irritates me a bit...

got a cases to share here n wanna ask u guys opinion..

my subline is using iphone.btw its a non-contract 3g phne. n she did online via wifi only.unfortunately maxis still charge on the data usage on the 1st mnth after using the iphone..its bout 150++ n she did not use any 3g connection to go on the net..so i call the customer service at 123..wishing to disconnect the 3g service for the main line n subline...to be safe, she also disable the 3g from the setting of the phne.

ok..life goes on that month.

ok, hrmm when the bill for the 2nd month (2nd month of subline using iphne), the freaking maxis still charge on the data call and its stil bout 130++..
i decided to go to maxis service centre at taman tun..after talking to a nice lady there.she mentioned to me, whenever any wireless connection is low, even the signals on the iphne shows 2 bar, it will automatically switch n connect to 3g service to surf the net smoothly. it must be 3 full bar for you not being charged using the wireless.. then i ask her, how bout if i have disconnected the 3g service (remember wat i did on the previous month) n she replied an answer that shocked to me mentioning that, even though u have dscnncted the 3g service, because the phone is 'so' intelligent, it will automatically enable the 3g that has been disconnected and connect to net through the service..so disconnecting ur 3g service is not a solution.thats y we have data package for contract phne (cehh). By the way, i cant see any termination of 3g service for ur accounts since may 2008 (damn you 1st maxis guy. he didnt terminate the 3g)...

next, i ask the solution..she mentioned to me 2 things :

1) if u scared to go online with being charge, enable ur airplane mode during wifi connection.with that ur net its 100% depends on the wireless.however, if u enable airplane mode during surfing, u are not able to receive/make calls, sms n etc as it blocks ur network.

2) jailbreak ur iphne, find a software name bosspref.there is a setting to disable 3g. (this is a proper solution).

im gonna JB soon n sees what happens...
