3g usage will increase even those u off the edge/3g but it only increase very very little....

i'm on unlimited plan cause 3gb not even enough cause i'm heave user.... in a week i can used up to 4gb that stated in iphone but as we not iphone usage r not accurate....

so for those who din use unlimited plan pls bear in mind always off ur 3g or edge, non-jailbreak iphone user have to becareful...

What on earth do U do with ur iPhone that U utilise 4GB of data usage p/day? U sure are hard core but if one uses it wisely, I think even 500MB is sufficient lah

lol, im hardly reached 30mb usage, and used it almost 1 month already. waiting for my first bill & see how it goes..

i dunno whether i can utilised up to 250mb per month with my current connection. by the way, I'm in JB, hardly surf & very slow.. rarely on EDGE, no 3G signal detected! why ka na?

Hm.. Guys, something to share here. I'm actually with 500mb iData plan 2, but after read this thread and i tested two days on my phone with fakeAPN.

I found the out come below:

- I'm in elevator or place where is quite hard to get signal
- Phone on idle mode
- Some time occurred when i open up my SMS box

The phone will automatically hook up to the data network. I know due fakeAPN is installed and i got a pop out box with the text of, "Could not activate cellular data network. You are not subscribed to a cellular data service"

I run this experiment is because previously (before i installed fakeAPN), i found that my phone cellular network data counter will increase after sometime even i didnt use any online apps or the phone were in idle mode. Its something like now i check is 2MB/255kb, but after a couple hour i check back again it will rose to 2mb/279kb. Something fishy eh? Is that because i had on the PUSH function in the phone?

Btw, my were pure set from Maxis without JB done and running on OS 3.1.2. Feel like to do a full restore and try again with fakeAPN to see the next out come.

P/s: A quick question, i just i might be at the wrong thread. But just want to have a quick answer. Is that possible for me to restore from OS 3.1.2 to OS 3.0?

wa lao wei.. whole area in Johor no 3G ka? I've monitoring Iphone 3G connection check on Senai, Kulai, Tebrau, Pulai, Skudai area (Johorian user may fimiliar with the places) - and the best connection is in Senai area on EDGE connection.. maxis dont have 3G signal in johor ka?

any advise, johorian user; kindly help. i dont think any iData plan suite me now..

hello, i found this while helping my friend upgrading his iPhone from 3.0.1 to 3.1.2...
He JB his phone already. installed fakeAPN, so no data can get trough.

After upgrade to 3.1.2, the setting in cellular data network have entry for APN etc, so i try to browse, no network for data.. thats kewl.
i reset the network setting everything, APN are left to blank, no mms setting all are blank, i tried to browse, walla wei... i can browse even there are no entry for APN. then i try put some junk setting for APN, still can browse...
means anything we put in garbage setting in APN, the data network will still work ? wah.. how to totally block it( rather than ask your provider to cut 3G service).

this was tested on Celcom as provider.

Hmm my first bill came, its pro-rated since i only got my IPhone on the 2nd of October.. my data usage is pretty consistent with my IPhone counter..

normally tv series will be 300++MB per episode. Summore got few tv series to follow. I understand how and why 4GB weekly is not enuff. THat doesnt include of downloading stuffs

For such "hardcore" downloading, one shouldn't be using his iPhone or data connectivity to do the job; use a proper line.

That's good - mine is pretty consistent too. Bill just came, last month I used slightly below 100MB; looks like I didn't make the wrong decision in swapping from iData 3 to iData 2 plan

Yes it's odd but perhaps U could check 3G coverage locations with Maxis.

not sure this is the correct place to ask or not, when I

- enable 3G & EDGE together = can surf net with safari
- disable 3G + enable EDGE = can surf net with safari but kind of slow
- enable 3G + disable EDGE = cannot surf net with safari, it said "safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet"

I have 16GB white i3GS, OS 3.1.2 JB Is this normal or something is not right with my phone?

which provider are u using ? im on Celcom and i had that same experience as yours today. Previously is OK.

It probably means that the 3G in your area isn't good and it can't get a signal.. so it tries to use Edge which you have disabled so it cna't access any net service..

I'm on Maxis set. May be 3G service is down. Any sifu can help to explain this.

In my experience.. if the area's 3G net service etc is bad.. you can see the 3g icon, but you still won't get any connection to the internet.. but i'm not sure with your case though

What do U mean by disable EDGE? There's no way of disabling EDGE unless you key in a fake APN or use a fake profile; in which case that should totally disable data service whether or not your 3G is on or off.

I think I can cause I use SBSettings.

I got 1 case.. My friend's iPhone having a problem.. It always can not using safari,ym,Im+(all apps using Internet). It will become hanging just like that(searching) and some of it will kick out back.. He have to off and on back the phone to solve the problem.. Meaning that he always have to off and on back when he want to use the apps or safari.. Is that normal or not?? Phone or line(digi) got problem?? He using digi data plan.. Please help me with this guys.. If u can please pm me coz i will not everyday online.. Much appreaciated if can pm me.. Thanx Alot!!!

It's definitely not normal though sometimes it does happen esp on the i3G due to insuffice of RAM.

Yes.. Jailbreak and os 3.0.1.. So is this normal problem to i3g??
