 iPhone Data Usage Issues (Maxis, Celcom, DIGI), Usage & Bill diff - High bill charges!

hi, i just got my iphone yesterday...not so familiar with it yet...

digi just send me sms to inform that i have changed to iDiGi plan successfully..

so i enable the Cellular Data to ON and resetted the usage data counter..

then i close all apps (by double tap on Home Button and close all apps)

after awhile, around 15-30min, i check my Usage again..i saw there is some Received and Sent..Received>Sent..around 30kb data...and i think it keep on increasing...

i wanted to know why..(although digi did not charge extra for usage over the quota)..

any apps can see Opened Network Connections or Network Manager or any apps to see network activities??..

It depends on what you do and how you use it. My patterns:
(1) WiFi at both home and office. Download apps/patch or youtube/etc. when at home/office only.
(2) For 3G/Edge data, I used it for a lot of apps/games while outside, like Mail (Exchange, Gmail, Yahoo), Safari (browse some news website or google search somethings, no heavy website), Papago, Whatsapp, Foursquare, Facebook (no videos/pictures, just view and reply text), Lil' Pirates, and a few more games.
(3) Data usage tracking using iDataUsage

So, it all boils down to own use and discipline, and constant tracking, before and after browse each time.
Also, close all apps in background once done.

if that the case, i think 100mb would not be enough...but maxis does offer 250mb data...at least would be enough to cover for 1month...

Could be those Push notifications (Badges), try switch off all, and enable one by one.

i m trying it now..i turn off all notifications...besides this, what else could be the issue?

i still see got data going in/out...but lesser then previously...now about 10kb...

ahpingko,

Mails ? Delete all email accounts in iPhone. Unless you find how to set it to not sync automatically at schedules time or push email.

i have no mails, disable all notifications, disable fetch data...i saw no apps running...i closed all...how to see which is the real culprit who cause data transfer??...any network monitoring apps?

ahpingko why u so worry finish data? Digi no matter you over the date usage you still can online and will slow abit only.

For IDigi User, is there a way to keep track on the amount of data transferred so as within the quota limit of 1 GB. I mean anyway to retrieve this info from digi system other than getting this reading from external apps.

i have same problem with you.. recently i'm using ivalue1, then i have switched to celcom prepaid. I have stop all notification, all the alert but when i check the data usage it still increase and my prepaid rm10 was finished in a day.. damn...!!!!!

u using digi too right?..nola, i not worry finish data since digi no data cap...i just want to know what actually happened in the phone...what apps keep on send/receive data..

basically no need to track la...just use like normal, when u feel it slow mean u hit it.. biggrin.gif but no extra charges!

1)u nid to know when is ur bill cycle/statement date (from this u'll know ur billing period)

2)for the data package as well as the call package will always be pro-rated for the 1st statement u receive after activation or changes done (eg : chg data plan,register new plan)

i'm sure a lot of users r not aware of these 2 main reasons why their bill charges went sky high

if u guys using smartphones will be more convenient (can always reset the usage statistics following ur statement date)

it was all due to lack of communication between maxis cs n maxis billing team, 2 months call and lidge report, still dont update account

all my report as good as gone, dunno how the archive/track our report, today consider new report again, again wtf

wonder how they can win gold award for cs, backdoor u rub me i rub u?

omg,
i am happy that at the end i sign up with digi..
i heard some of my friends saying that maxis over charged them as well..

those who over charged by maxis really hv to really do something, else the contract is so long, wondering how much u all will be over charged..

Hi i just got my iphone yesterday under maxis ivalue 1.
Any expert can guide me?
i closed off my 3g, celullar and wifi.
But the usage for data is still increasing, although in a very little pace.
Can i know what are the applications to look at which cause this movement?
i have turn off all notifications as well.
I saw from previous thread that somebody commented they might be some background programme which
is running. But i cant figure out what to close off again.

1-because msia telco are damn greedy and stingy. yes, including celcom
2-because our voice(the customers) are puny.
3-they know that oni 1 out of 100000 cases the customers went to court.
