anyone tried nokia map 3.0 beta?
it is much better than the previous one and the map is much more updated, in fact in my place, it is more current than google map and malfreemap...

What are the advantage over handy shell? Handy shell also can customize the front page.

Handy shell has memory leak based on my few days experienced with it.

I'm downloading and installing now.
Will report and review a little later.

Just updated the app yesterday. Overall still a bit slow. Map is updated compare to old version. I accidentally click "ok" to go online, and now nokia automatically activated the 7 days trial period for the navigation thingy. Haiyaaa....... I use Nokia Map to browse map since Garmin usually hangs on my phone when i browse the map.

i found it very fast but if you don't subscribe to any unlimited data plan, don't use it.
even if u preloaded malaysia map using maploader, it will download the buildings/landmarks 3d model automatically though.

it seems the 3d landmarks is not part of the basic map.

the only reason I download it is because i want to see the 3d landmarks.
I want to make my brother jealous, he has a C702.

use common sense. Who are the mappers for nokia maps. How can it be more updated that MSM or MFM combine? Just curious care to share? Nokia have their own mappers in malaysia fully sponsor by nokia?

Probably for some parts, MSM and MFM missed, and for most other parts, MSM and MFM is far more updated.

He's probably lucky he got that sweet spot.

Alot of work u know to update routes and path. A new traffic appear u need add it in at the correct location if wrong. YOu have the best gps application also useless

as i mentioned, in my place (where i live), the map is more updated than google map and malfreemap ....
i never stated the whole malaysia map is much more updated than those 2 maps which is ridiculous for me to claim so since i have no time to check all areas in malaysia.

Yeah, and even the best mpas provider can sometimes miss. It's very costly to update frequently and very work intensive.

I'll check KK map to see how well Nokia's doing.

Well I do notice that some maps(Malaysia also) are double in size.

Installing Garmin is certainly not easy for me, as i'm not really the tech guy.. So far, i've done everything as instructed on pg1, until:

Got the software key and saved it as SW.UNL
Copy the SW.UNL file into \Garmin\ in your memory card
Then, run GM-MySInMXT.exe, and copy gmapsupp.img into \Garmin\
Disconnect your phone from your computer.
Go to Applications >Garmin Mobile XT >Settings >System >Remote GPS >Select ‘Use Attached/Built-in GPS’ >Enable.

I couldn't find the "Use Attached/Built-in GPS" option in the Garmin system directory

handy shell just changes the front page and it uses a lot of ram. This software, integrates into the phone. You know the media bar that we click and 4 or 5 shortcuts appear, you can make that button to open this app with unlimited shortcuts. Also, we have to unlock the phone using the slider at the side, but with this app you can assign any keys to unlock your phone like the green call button and the red hang up button, or any combo. So you can unlock like a normal nokia phone and the slider wont get spoilt.

edit: also it does use much RAM at all. So for those not using the handy shell it is a must have. But if you are using the handy shell, I guess there will just be too many shortcuts then. But the other cool feature of unlocking using any keys is also a plus over the handy shell.

Also then after installation where do we get the maps from? over wifi? I know I won't be able to navigate and stuff but the 3d maps are quite cool, just wanna test it out. And a last question? Can we kill all associated background apps that this app starts using killme. Cause I am just installing to try it out. Thanks.

hmm...it can be accessed by clicking on the satellite signal bar on the top left hand corner

because its for ppl tat reinstall garmin . To get the unlock code u need to purchase garmin license.

For internal gps Garmin software is not free

I hope tachlio can state this clearly in the front page. Its getting very annoying when people keep asking

- why I cannot select built in GPS
- how come I need to pay for Garmin
- I tot GPS is free
- where to get device unlock code

And for every thread we always have to say the same thing. I dunno since when you guys think that Garmin is free. Last time I read aspire's tutorial straight away I understood everything. I never asked this kind of 'obvious' questions.
