just get an unmodded wii. if your gal is techie nerd and likes tinkering with her wii (and less time tinkering with u), then i guess modded is ok. but is good to support original because of the long term benefits. so if u don't mind, go for unmodded whatever d case.

I pretty newbie in Wii, so the modded Wii can't upgrade the firmware right? Then if I buy a modded Wii and never do any upgrade, will there any incompatibility issue with original games? Unmodded Wii is non-exist in JB AFAIK so can't help buying a modded one.

that's the problem with modded. U buy it with a certain mod setup. different sellers mod it differently, so u can't say. But the more chinaman the seller, the older the mod version is. but they will give u 15 or so free games which are old games, and of course all will work. is the newer games that might not work. then u tinker lah, until the new games work. and don't be surprise that now the new games work, the old games pula don't work. so tinker again lah. neverending story.
if u casual player, modded is good la, but not if u hardcore. coz casual players they just have that 15 or so free games, then they happy for life. don't need to buy new games anymore.

QUOTE(Kyoyagami @ Nov 5 2009, 03:56 PM) You can ask me to send you one to JB if you want. How much for one? Free postage? Any accesorries/games bundled? Warranty how? There are only modded Wii here so don't know the original price and package. By the way, how much does original game normally costs? How come original Wii is so difficult to find in Malaysia? I understand the piracy isssue but does Nintendo think highly on Malaysia market? Or there is nobody care to become the distro? This post has been edited by TitaniumZ: Nov 5 2009, 04:28 PM

Since ur in JB, try looking at Jusco. They have Nintendo counters on selected malls. But note, selected. Another reason, us original guys are quite small in number. Why don't u pm me what you require, and I'll tend to you when I get back from work. Thanks lad.

is partly nintendos fault when comes to piracy. people are people, if there is a way to not spend rm180 for their game they will do it, coz the number of hours they spend on piracy modding still cost less then rm180. look at ps3, do u see the games displayed in plastic binders? wii better learn from playstation in combating piracy. i believe they have learnt. Wii 2 will be nearly piracy proof.

i think the software price is pretty reasonable already. do the math. USD 50 * 3.5 lebih kurang rm 180. some say u can't compare usd and rm. but the games are imported, so u can't sell it less. but u see, not every shop sells it at rm 180. I still see some sell it at rm200 up to rm215, especially out of kl.

QUOTE(tek @ Nov 4 2009, 12:39 PM) Hi guys, would like to ask what complications would I face if I get a wii from Australia beside the obvious warranty claims? Thanks in advance PAL version wii in my book is no no. Even tougher to run US game compare to Jap Wii unless you fully convert the region the US region.

your wii is a modded machine, and the update created the problem. He will need to do some softmod patches to make it good again. rule of thumb, is don't update your modded wii, or better still don't mod your wii. these are one of the risks of modding your wii. 1k is a bit too much from my opinion, but there really isn't an official price for these kind of work. u can try to diy from visiting hacking forums, but risk of this it might make the problem worst. the cheapest is try to find a friend that can help u for teh tarik.
btw, if you console is hardmodded (meaning it have a chip in it) and absolutely no softmodding at all, simply by removing that chip will solve the problem. u can ask the same guy about this who quote u 1k.

ramz, just to clarify more into the details,
johnyblaze87, if you got a Korean transvestite into US Wii and you did update recently, meaning updated to firmware 4.2 and in doing so you got an Error #003.
You could say bye bye to your Wii, its essentially bricked. AFAIK there's no known fix for it yet ATM. As the seller is offering 1k for the repairs, I would say he's actually exchanging your Wii with a new one, and its cut-throat, since you're only changing the console, you're not getting the things that come with a new Wii~!
So, I suggest that you just buy a new one outright since its now cheaper than RM1000, so you have the extra Wiimotes and etc.

eh? u r right dragonfly, he probably bricked it. when i read 1k, in my mind it was 100rm. 1k is about the cost of a new console. anyway, red bricks r getting out of fashion.
