I pretty newbie in Wii, so the modded Wii can't upgrade the firmware right? Then if I buy a modded Wii and never do any upgrade, will there any incompatibility issue with original games? Unmodded Wii is non-exist in JB AFAIK so can't help buying a modded one.

You can ask me to send you one to JB if you want.

How much for one? Free postage? Any accesorries/games bundled? Warranty how? There are only modded Wii here so don't know the original price and package. tongue.gif
By the way, how much does original game normally costs?

How come original Wii is so difficult to find in Malaysia? I understand the piracy isssue but does Nintendo think highly on Malaysia market? Or there is nobody care to become the distro?

It seems a Wii 2 is pretty close or is it pure rumour? It's a totally revamp console or maybe just a Wii 1.5?

In such case, the only legit way to play games from other region is to get a modded Wii. sad.gif
OR
Get NTSC-J Wii since there are many Japan exclusive games; while most NTSC-U/PAL games will be released as NTSC-J anyway.
Am I correct? hmm.gif

Today I spend the whole afternoon in JB local game shops and finally I found one shop is selling unmodded wii console. Bought a red NTSC-U New Super Mario Bros. Wii bundle and a Wii Fit Balance Board bundle; I myself would like a NTSC-J Wii to play Japanese exclusive titles but this Wii is meant for my wife and kids who don't read Japanese so I'll just go with it. My bad was I didn't check properly on the Wii Fit and bought a Korean version of Wii Fit Balance Board bundle which suppose to be NTSC-J version... sad.gif but the shop seller keep saying that she guarantee can play and mutually agree would exchange to a playable version if really can't play... hopefully she'll keep her promise.
Anyway, when I was asking around, some game shop told me the soft-modded Wii cosole they are selling can be unmodded by just uninstalling all the hacks (and the shop will do it for me), is this even possible? If possible then it'll be a very good deal to get those modded set because for a merely RM100 you get a 500GB HDD and an extra set of Wii Remote + Nunchuk (claimed to be original). But again when I looked at those consoles which they claimed to be NTSC-U Wii are in fact Korean sets (serial no. start with "LK").
Anyway, I got my unmodded set and now waiting for my boy to wake up from his nap to unpack the console (he was over excited therefore fall asleep in the car when we were going home). Next step is to look for ori. game sellers smile.gif

Damn, I've been cheated!!! Last night I only setup the newly bought red wii for my kids to play game and guess what I found? Homebrew channel, USB loader, NeoGamma etc. It is a soft-modded wii all along!!!
Good thing is I still get the Wii Sport and New Super Mario Bros. games bundled. Now my problem is:

1) Can I reverse the mod back to ori? Any good tutorial? All tutorial I found online is telling people how to mod/hack but when get asked how to remove nobody gives a damn and ask back "Why would you want to remove the mod/hack?".

2) My system firmware is 4.0U, and when I play NSMB the Wii will crashed; check online to find that NSMB need firmware update. The NSMB disk didn't update my system at all. Why? I thought the disk should have the necessary update.

3) I tried to perform system update via wireless, and keep getting Error Code: 32004. I've check my internet connection, the connection is good and I don't have firewall setup except for the Windows Firewall. So how do I update? Or is it the soft-mod blocking system update?

4) Now if I can't unmod the Wii, but I stick to original NTSC-U game only what problem would I face?

So basically if I successfully perform a system update all the mod will be gone.
Does the NSMB disk that bundled together with the console have relavant update? Mine didn't update the system so I'll take that as a no, but will those hacks prevent system update?
How to check whether a game disk contain update?
BTW, anyone can help me with the 32004 error?

it depend on your current firmware... even if u update to the latest firmware, the modded files still in your nand. homebrew channel/other channel can be easily deleted using wii menu...
*
My firmware is 4.0U with Homebrew Channel & NeoGamma R9 installed.
What I want to know is even with a modded NTSC-U wii, if I only play original NTSC-U game on it I shouldn't face much problem, correct?
Now if NSMB didn't update the system, meaning the 4.0U firmware is enough to play it? Then what is causing the wii to crash. I can start the game normally, and play for a while when the console will suddenly crash. The "point-of-crashing" is not fixed but rather random. I don't have this crashing problem with the bundled Wii Sport.

Restore factory settings should be possible too no?
How to restore factory setting?

Sounds more like game disc problem now hmm.gif

Disk problem hmm.gif then I should go and exchange the disk.

Anyway anyone faced this error 32004 problem before? Nintendo troubleshooting says this is caused by either weak internet connection or blocked by firewall. My streamyx connection is good and doesn't use firewall. My wireless router is the Riger brand Streamyx bundled one.
Setting on Wii:
Wireless Connection
using WEP security key
auto obtain IP address
manual input DNS
MTU = 0
country set as United State

...err. as i remember nsmb came with system update 4.2. it should prompt u to update. maybe your wii already modded to skip firmware update...

Is there a way to remove this hack?

titanium, I think its best you send the whole thing back. This sounds, a little too awkward.

Yeah, I know I should. I can only go to the shop again during weekend, and there might be dispute and not easy to get refund. Plus beside a soft-modded console, I get everything bundled together. So before resolve to the return & refund step I might as well try something first. If I can unmod it then settle.
My current problem with the seller:
1) Sold me modded consle instead of unmodded as I request, but I get everything bundled together.
2) NSMB crashing problem... have to make sure whether is the disk problem or due to the mod, since the Wii Sport is working. This I'll bring the console and disk to the shop and show them.
3) Cannot system update due to error 32004, according to Nintendo this error has nothing to do with mod/hack but weak internet connection or firewall issue; again i wasn't so sure whether the mod/hack has anything to do with this. hmm.gif
So what I'm going to do is try to remove the mod. On Saturday I'll go to the shop again to 1) exchange the Korean Wii Fit to US Wii Fit as her promise; 2) show her the NSMB isn't working; 3) point out that she sold me a modded wii when I asked for unmodded.

One quick question, is it safe to format the system memory for a modded wii? Format system moemory is what you said "restore to factory setting" right?
Now think back since the seller sold this modded wii as an unmodded, if I brick the wii when performing a system memory format then I can pretend that the console has problem and ask for exchange or refund. tongue.gif

It's the freaking Malaysia market, most local game shop get pre-modded console. It is freaking hard to get unmodded console or original game titles. Before J@ilbreak people buy their PS3 from Sony and all those shops are "forced" to sell original PS3 games, now in every shops you can see ripped PS3 games being copied to HDD. Yesterday when I asked around for unmodded Wii those seller just stared at me like a three-headed monster.
Until yesterday, I know nothing of Wii mod, Homebrew, hacks or whatever but today I've read a lot of articles so now I'm pretty sure what is blocking the system update (The big "P").

Like I said, most local game shops here do not get their console from official distributor but from other "channel". It's pretty rare for them to have a customer who want unmodded gaming console. Especially here in JB, a lot of Singaporeans will cross the causeway the purchase modded gaming console/handheld and pirated games. Some more in some shops those jokers told me their consoles are original in a sense all bundled accessories/games are in the box but the serial no. on the console doesn't even match the box. Console "LKXXX", box "LUXXX"... XD

Yeah, I still remember the dokidoki feeling when I unpacked my original PAL-A PS2 Final Fantasy X bundle bought in Melbourne 9 years ago and followed by two years of original PS2 gaming experience in Australia. Only when I returned to Malaysia and then turned to the darkside. ;-)
Anyway, today is the day whether I get my full refund or not. Wish me luck smile.gif

Last week is quite a busy week for me so the update comes a bit late. Anyway, at the end the shop uninstall the mod and update the system to 4.3U for me. When I get home and I was prompt to perform another system update (after update still 4.3U), and then I downloaded those missing pre-installed channels like Nintendo Channel, Internet Channel etc. This weekend I downloaded all those free WiiWare demo for my kids to play with.

Quick Qs:
1) Where/how to buy Wii points? Do I need a valid US address to buy online using credit card?
2) Is there any gameshop selling ori Wii games in KL? I am going to KL soon so might grab one or two titles.

I saw some third party one selling from RM30 ~ RM50; or you can just go to some local electronic/hardware shop to get a 240-110V adapter.

I purchased a Korean Wii last year-end.
I thought I'll get an US one, but it turns out as a modified Wii. sad.gif
I really wanted to get an US version's but there's no shops in Kuantan that sell Original Wii Games, Accessories, even unmodified consoles.
What can I do?
By the way, Can I connect my Wii to the internet without getting my Wii bricked?
*
Unmodded Wii is damn hard to get in local market. You can buy unmodded set at LYN garage sale from seller here like Kyoyagami. And I strongly recommend that even you are to get another modded Wii, try to source a NTSC-U set or NTSC-J set so that you can unmod it and still be able to play games unless you can read Korean. But again Korean games are next to impossible to get here in Malaysia. smile.gif
