Thx 4 replying Kyoyagami... but i still got a bit woli rite now.. i hv ask a few shops sum told me its juz the adapter sum told me its the whole wii..

Omg.. do u tink it's reli just the adapter?? Coz the adapter is direct to wii.. If not den i hv to buy a brand new wii to my sis  cry.gif

Its better not to speculate to give you false hope or just to comfort you, either way its better to take action and confirm the damage, rather than doing nothing about it whilst worrying.

Quit worrying and just hope for the best, take it to a reputable shop/someone to test out your wii with another adapter.

If its just the adapter, you might as well get one that supports our Malaysian 240v voltage, and say bye bye to the stepdown transformer. thumbup.gif
In that sense, its a good thing. whistling.gif

QUOTE(pikacu @ Jun 10 2009, 08:01 PM)
not 640x480, but 720x480 @60Hz during 16:9 on Wii games tongue.gif

but if gc game, it will stay 640x480...
*
QUOTE(gundamalpha @ Jun 11 2009, 10:24 AM)
Nope, when you set your Wii to 16:9, the resolution stays at 640 x 480, I've triple checked it nod.gif Plus I can't think of any TV/monitor supports 720 x 480 resolution
*
I confirm gundam's view, the Wii's doesn't really outputs native 16:9 resolutions like 720x480.
The Wii outputs what's called an Anamorphic Widescreen. This means its actually cramming a 16:9 picture on a 4:3 output.

In other words, if your TV detects aspect ratios of the input it receives, it'll detect it as 4:3, but the screen you see will be in the wrong ratio(tall & skinny). So, you'll have to manually set it to fill your 16:9 TV in order to get the correct ratio.
That results in getting lower DPIs, hence the lower quality gundam was mentioning.

But, still there are games that can only output to 4:3 ratios so you'll get short and fat pictures, and there's also games able to output to true 16:9 ratios too.

PS. AFAIK all virtual console games to date are only 4:3 ratios, so you have to manually set your TV back to 4:3 when you've already set it to 16:9.

humm, i thought hom----w and ge---os would be enough for softmod? or need cIOS too?
*
Actually, to make the Wii work on multi-region ORIGINAL only games, you just need Gecko OS, there's a few methods of installing or running it(one popular way is HBC), and I won't not go into that detail.

cIOS is not needed.

I do meant multi region on ori games lolx tongue.gif

thx for the clarification that cIOS is not needed.
*
I know you meant ori games.
Me putting pressure on that is meant to let others(not you pikacu) know that its not for pirating. tongue.gif

If I didn't do that, I may get bombarded with PMs or posts concerning how's it done etc. doh.gif

From garage sale, I'm seeing Wii for sale around RM700. How much to get the whole thing up n running ? do i need all those optional controllers to fully enjoy Wii ?
*
For the optional controllers, its your call, buy whatever fancies you,
be it Guitars, Drums, Gun holster, Wii balance board, Wii Motion+ etc.
check out on youtube about the controllers, to see what gives.

One of the latest one is the Wii Motion+, most of the ppl who got it says its a good buy, and a definite buy, and enjoys it.
There's a thread about it, go have a look~ thumbup.gif

*
Since you got yourself a "transvestite" Wii (as what they use to refer here), this few links will probably help you be rid of your English/Korean Manual dilemma.

Here are the US Manual page for Nintendo's recent systems ---> Link

While I'm at it,
Here are more specific important ones that might overdose you with pleasure as well.

get a 360/ps3 if:
3. You love FPS and epic games (wii can't compete with these games)
*
Actually IMO the Wii performs well in FPS games compared to the 360/ps3,
because of the unique pointer that only the Wii has right now, it just feels better to play FPS this way. thumbup.gif

I just realized (again) the old Classic Controller has a lock mechanism behind it, it seems like used to hook on something. Any idea what it does?

ramz, just to clarify more into the details,

johnyblaze87, if you got a Korean transvestite into US Wii and you did update recently, meaning updated to firmware 4.2 and in doing so you got an Error #003.

You could say bye bye to your Wii, its essentially bricked.
AFAIK there's no known fix for it yet ATM.
As the seller is offering 1k for the repairs, I would say he's actually exchanging your Wii with a new one, and its cut-throat, since you're only changing the console, you're not getting the things that come with a new Wii~!

So, I suggest that you just buy a new one outright since its now cheaper than RM1000, so you have the extra Wiimotes and etc.

Welcome Kyo..
How about some commission? brows.gif

PS. You can add the fact to the FAQ (similar sounding pun not intended) that Region changed(Transvestite) Korean Wiis' cannot update to firmware 4.2U. And advise users to not update, in no matter what way so ever. It'll get bricked with Error #003. But I'm not sure about Japanese ones thou.

PPS. dunno y, I like using the word transvestite on Korean Wiis. tongue.gif

QUOTE(DarkTenno @ Jan 19 2010, 11:57 AM)
I asking about why does the CONSOLE price differ between modded and unmodded, Umodded selling around RM1.2k+ modded selling RM799 the diffrent is hugeeee
So if I bought let said US modded set I can just Update to the lasted firmware to revert it back to original firmware just like those psp firmware?

THANKS!
*
Now unmodded NTSC-US Wii ain't that expensive anymore, a basic console package is now only RM950. Adding an extra wiimote and nunchuk adds up to RM1k.

About the question on why modded sets are cheaper than unmodded sets is because:
1) Korean Wii cheaper than US Wii for a number of reasons, for example, Original Wii sports which Korean Wii are not included with, and Korean Wii lacks GameCube backward compatibility.

2) ONE word, WARRANTY

That's all that I can think of right now. rclxms.gif

Correct me if I'm wrong guys!

There's also the way of checking the sticker at the bottom of the Wii(when its placed vertically).

There's something like "RVL JPN" for Japanese Wii, "RVL KOR" for Korean Wii.
Serial numbers that start with LUXXX.. for US Wii, LJXXXX.. for JPN Wii, LEXXX.. for PAL Wii and etc..

And the language on sticker for the Warning is also dependent on the region of the Wii too, Japanese for Japanese Wii, Korean for Korean Wii etc..

You get the idea~ icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(gogo2 @ Jan 22 2010, 09:59 PM)
no. I thought its like PS2. Just buy and play. I don't know I'll have so many issue sad.gif Mii cannot enter really big issue.
Photo also cannot enter. If I enter, the Wii just freeze and Wii Remote lost connection to Wii. I can eject the disc.
But to make Wii playable again, I need to press Power button longer to off it. Then on it back with Wii remote.

Conclusion: Please buy Wii USA original. No point buying Wii mod if cannot play game properly sad.gif

Since you've already bought it and stuck with it.
And I noticed and you bought it in Penang and I assume you're in Penang.
So, I'll take pity on you and extend my help in anyway possible. laugh.gif
