QUOTE(project-o @ Jun 15 2009, 10:46 AM) I would say it depends on your usage of the lenses. Having both the 18-70 and the 18-135 the 18-70 has the advantage of the f4.5 aperture at the long end. The 18-135 is in fact a very decent lens and is sharp at all focal lengths all the way from 18 to 135 but with all "superzooms" to achieve the sharpness there is a compromise in a more barrel distortion at the wide end and more chromatic abberation. imo if anybody wants to have superzoom, 135mm isn't what i call superzoom. nikon 18-200VR, tamron 18200 / 18270VC, sigma 18200 / 18250 OS HSM is more appropriate to be called superzoom and yes it does cost a lot more but it is very very convenient. if you buy the tamron 18270VC it almost covers the range of three usual lenses D60 kit (18-55) + 55-200VR + 70-300VRii. is it worth it? yes it is. Superzooms are jack of all trades, master of none. The 18-105VR has reduced the CA and the wide end problems and added VR to use lower shutter speed. For me I would take the 18-135 if I want to carry only one lens and the 18-70 with the 55-200VR. 18-105 I guess it is between. i would love to get either a Nikon 18200VRii (fast af), Tamron 18270VC (slower af but longer range and better IQ than nikon 18200) OR Sigma 18250 OS HSM (fast af like nikon) |
