I believe it is the bandwidth that is allocated to the broadcasts. They cram quite a bit of channels but there is not enough bandwidth allocation. I believe they are selling the bandwidth to more profitable purposes , ie, telecommunications, other nations broadcasters, news agencies...

In order to improve the picture quality, Astro need to replace the current decoders.

To replace the current decoders means, either Astro absorb all the cost or charge it to customer.

They argue that there are majority of people still using CRT TVs. So if they replace the decoder, the old tv will not be compatible.

So, I think better not hope for HD from Astro for at least 3-5 years time.

Malaysia BOLEH!

To be more realistic now, upgrade your cable to improve your PQ in Astro.

Yes you're right. They put as many channel as possible in one transponder thus will cramp the bandwidth. As for Picture Quality frame (frame size 702 x 588) there's not much diffrence if you used good quality composite video cable or Monster S-Video cable.!

Currently 5 HD providers on MEasat 3 C band, but not for MAlaysian..!! Pity to all Malaysian... cry.gif

Hopefully next M3A transponder will have HD transmission for MAlaysian.

just some information to share,

i heard from a friend that working in astro told me that HD will be launching next year in par with the world cup 2010, m3a satellite is to reserve for this purpose also...

furthermore, from a sports fan point of view, singaporeans are paying nearly 5 times for a live football event and hong kong, not to be mistaken 20 times... can be grateful we do have the service here, and on worldwide basis, still cheaper biggrin.gif

its not cheap to own a good lifestyle...
reality is cruel sad.gif

ipstar/thaicom has the nice satellite with broadcast beams in Malaysia.
