astro will start to broadcast in HD in June 2010. This is the insider information.

ipstar/thaicom has the nice satellite with broadcast beams in Malaysia.
but astro tapau all and no one allowed to champion the satellite tv..so sad of monopoly..

I got a friend tested the new astro decoder with component connection.

The picture quality still sucks. I guess the source is still analogue, even with component connection.

So, I don't think a reason to change the decoder. That's why you don't hear hoo haa from astro on the new decoder.

i checked my new astro decoder and my sharp lcd only have component and no s-video connection,so cant get a monster cable s-video from u. i guess even if i buy from you the monster cable video3 component,i guess the picture quality still sucks. right? i just have to bear with it for now. hopefully to get hdmi from u soon. thanx

Astro's CFO said yesterday that they plan to roll out HD service in Sept 2009, with main drivers to be sports and movies. He said they already have the decoder box but haven't decided on the pricing model yet. Likely they may give some kind of offer or priority for long-time/high-value Astro customers. Apparently the cost of the HD decoder box is actually lower than that of the SD decoder box.

The Linksys WRT610N is a router with 4-port Gigabit Ethernet switch, dual-band Wireless-N support (2.4GHz and 5GHz), USB Storage Link (ie, hook up a USB HDD as NAS), QoS and all the other usual features.

Now that Astro is going HD, I think I will have to upgrade both my projector and TV. Will wait until HD service starts before upgrading, as I hope to see prices fall a bit first.
