My eyes say that RTM2 has one of the best PQ on Astro... then ch 104... 501 and 502 also not bad. Basically, all Astro in-house channels have good PQ... the imported ones like CNN, Nat Geo etc sux big time. But imported programs on astro channels dont have as good PQ as their own programs. TV3 (suku) has one of the worst PQ on Astro for local free TV. I think for a start, Astro can air their own channels in 16:9 anamorphic at 480i/576i brows.gif That would be a tremendous upgrade already.

Astro's CFO said yesterday that they plan to roll out HD service in Sept 2009, with main drivers to be sports and movies. He said they already have the decoder box but haven't decided on the pricing model yet. Likely they may give some kind of offer or priority for long-time/high-value Astro customers. Apparently the cost of the HD decoder box is actually lower than that of the SD decoder box.

talking about bandwidth, if you guys been to China, the speed in malaysia is SOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooo pathetic...over there the slowest connection(in a hotel) is around 26MB, and is free...... and if i am not wrong, they planned to increase to 100MB by 2012.....malaysia 4mb?  hahahaha..

i upload 1.5 GB of photo to flickr and it took less than 3 min..

I think we even lose out to Vietnam in internet infra. That's my observation about a year ago. Pathetic steemix.

I wonder how much is the different in term PQ comparing S-Video and Component cable.

The latest decoder I received yesterday has composite, S-video as well as component video out, and LR-audio, optical audio out as well as USB port in front. This decoder was just launched very recently replacing the component-out-no-s-video decoders.

cool...exisitng subcribers how to get this? cancel subscription and re-register? that's a lot of work sad.gif

I'm moving house and to relocate the astro equipment I need to pay at least RM150 for dismantling and reinstalling. But to subscribe new, I need to pay only RM30 to the installer and no other charges, except I have to sign a new 2-year contract. I figured I wasn't planning to move in 2 years time and getting a new decoder which is supposed to be HD-capable (?) is great... well the choice is obvious. I tried to save the planet by reusing my existing decoders (yeah, 2 decoders actually) but it seems that astro is punishing me for that .... grrr......
