what are the ways to backup my contacts if i never jailbreak it?

winscp requires jb right? ssh is through jb isn't it?

Here is how to back up your iPhone contacts on a PC. I just did this and its super easy:

- Open i-tunes on your computer that you sync it to
- Plug in your phone to the computer
- open "Address book" window's address book program. Kinda lame, but it works. Its under start-programs-accessories
- Back to iTunes, click on the phone icon on the left
- Click on the Info, and under "Contacts" (the first one) check "sync contacts from" and then pick "Windows address book" from the drop down menu
- Click all contacts
- Then at the bottom right of iTunes, click "Sync" It will ask you if you want to merge or replace. Make sure you select "MERGE" or it will delete your contacts on the phone.

Thats it, check your Windows Address Book and everything should be there. All the numbers and emails that you have put so much time into adding to your phone. Pretty nice. So, from now on, if you add contacts to the phone it will back up to the Computer and the Computer's Address book (if changed) adds new contacts. Hope this helps.

just download da new fw...
select backup from itunes...then proceed to update n then restore ur backup...
simple..

just update thru itune, then u have to re-jailbreak n re-unlock.

after 1 month of JBing in 3.0
my iphone suddenly stuck at plug into itunes screen.

when i connect to itune and try to restore. below error occur.
Problem Encountered : iPhone could not be restored, unknown error (28).

i am now not able to do anything
I tried update to latest itunes
Restart my laptop
Try it next day
Try it with no other USB plug to my laptop
Try to restore to different firmware
Try to restore in DFU mode

same error come out everytimes i try to restore.
if that a JB issues or hardware problem?

can i just use redsnow 0.8 to unlock OS 3.0.1?

hence, to jailbreak an 3GS on 3.0.1, restore thru iTunes with 3.0.1 but jailbreak using redsn0w with 3.0.

try restore using different desktop. before restore check whether u download correct firmware, by the way your iphone is 2G, 3G or 3GS?

if u r using i2G, yes u can jb n unlock using redsn0w.
if u r using i3g or i3gs redsnow is just for jailbreaking and to unlock d locked i3G or i3GS u got to use ultrasnow or purplesnow.
