Meh, I can't figure out what's wrong.

I have redsn0w 0.72 on XP. Everything goes fine, until the final part where redsn0w says "Done!" and I can click on Finish.

But my iphone is still on a grey screen and doesn't reboot. If i power it off and on manually, it's un-jail-broken and doesn't have cydia or icy.

Any ideas?

I tried JB'ing 3 times with XP SP3, didn't work. Ran in safe mode and it worked like a charm, so if you're having problems with redsn0w and you're running SP3, go to safe mode!

Problem though. I'm trying to upgrade my Cydia. Got Cydia Installer and Debian Packager in the Changes tab, but no matter using WiFi/Streamyx or Maxis 3G I get spammed with POSIX Operation Timed Out errors.

Eventually after keeping on retrying, it downloads completely but then I get Internal Error, Could not perform immediate configuration (2) on essential.

Any ideas?

Meh, for some reason I can't JB my 3G.

Upgraded to 3.0.1 via iTunes.

Ran redsn0w 0.8 and chose the 3.0 firmware

After putting the phone into DFU mode, redsn0w hangs on "waiting for device to reboot."

[edit] found a guide that says Update: If your iPhone 3GS is stuck on “Waiting for reboot” unplug your USB cable and plug it back in. but it doesn't work still, stuck at waiting for reboot.

If I put my 3G in DFU mode BEFORE running redsn0w, then redsn0w goes through the jailbreak process and reports it as OK, but the phone isn't actually Jb'ed (i.e. no pineapple logo, etc etc).

Any ideas?

Holy crap how could I forget this? Even my 3.0 JB was exactly the same, I could only JB in Safe Mode, how on earth did I forget?
