So the blackra1n is only applicable to the iphone 3Gs only?
My iphone 3G is from maxis one, factory unlocked. Can blackra1n jailbreak my iphone 3G?

Blackra1n is applicable to both officially unlocked Iphone 3G and 3G-such as Maxis, Singtel, V0dafone sets from NZ. If yours is locked set from US, UK then it does not work. I JB my missus Iphone 3G set from NZ a few days back, after trying a few times. The secret is to unplug your iphone soonest you hit Make it Rain and heard the sound, then connect again. It works for me.

i tot US n UK set also can be jailbreak, kenot unlocked using blackra1n nia

it should work. but there's a trick to do it. You can google it.

I bought Maxis 3GS 16Gb, upgrade firmware to 3.1.2. Completed blackrain jailbreaked, install cyndia and wintherboard theme. The problem is when I'm loading Diskaid 3.1, I cant open Root Folder, software said I'm not done jailbreaked yet. Any way to solve?

i also tried a few times only got it to work.. how i got it to work is to open blackra1n, after that my iphone shows the itunes thingy. i hold power + home and it rebooted(im still holding the 2 buttons) until it shows the itunes sign again, then i let it go. since nothing happen, i close blackra1n and open it again, then now i can see the geo face and got it jailbreaked.. maybe some of u can try this.

Added on October 18, 2009, 3:04 amits best if u dont upgrade straight away because dev team might not come up with a jailbreak solution yet. check out this thread to see if the NEW version is jailbreakable already, for example blackra1n only came out after 1 month since the release of 3.1.. those who upgraded to 3.1 in september had to wait for 1 month to jailbreak their phones.

and YES of course u can install official applications. and YES u do need to re-jb again, but no big deal since it only takes 1 min.

is it safe to upgrade to 3.1.2? im using i2g, currently on 3.0, unlocked n jailbreak using redsow

diskaid 3.1 is a trial version i tink, it wun let u access ur root folder...
look for 3.0

blackra1n is not a proper jb solution. Use pawngetool to create a fresh ipsw. A lot of problems with blackra1n

after i install cydia,can i still install Rock and Icy?

blackra1n is really for people with 3.1+ firmware and have unlocked sets etc and just want a quick simple easy way to JB their phone

Yeah, I have both Cydia and Icy running.. though I'm not sure what happens when you've installed a package on Cydia and you see the same thing on ICY and try to install it etc

It's true that Apple is currently shipping 3gs that has a new bootROM that is currently not jailbreakable.

Pwnagetool is not available for 3.1.2 firmware right?
