Try to download the 3.0.1 firmware. the IPSW file
open up itunes, under ur iphone, hold shift then click restore.
select your 3.0.1 IPSW restore file and do the restoration. and it should work.

Apparently Apple is enforcing the "you cannot downgrade your iPhone" feature, and they're starting with the 3G [S]. I've tried with 2 different phones already, it usually fails at the "Verifying with Apple" section sad.gif

Weird. I just JB my 3GS 3.0.1 but using redsn0w with mac flawlessly. Do you have mac system? Might give a try.
Or re-try with this tutorial.

If your 3GS came with 3.0.1, just skip the restoration using iTunes. Skip to the step where you completely turn off device, hold home button while connecting iphone to pc thru usb. I turned off iTunes when I did this.

Not sure. Corrupted zip? FYI, you have to download version 3.0 firmware. redsn0w does not recognize 3.0.1 firmware.

Maybe apple didn't include in it anymore cause you can't restore to 3.0.1 for 3GS anymore.

No, you can't! Currently there is no way you can JB with 3.1 firmware and yet, you can't downgrade to 3.0.1 neither. Oh unless you already save your 3.0 ECID SHSH into Cydia. But the process for downgrade quite long.

You're using Celcom? I'm about to upgrade to 3.1 too, but I have slightly less problem than yours. Only calls drop and call failed!

It is not possible to jailbreak as the pwn cannot modified the current 3.1 baseband.
The possible way now is if you're on 3.0.1, you can update the firmware to 3.1 but does not change the baseband by customize an ipsw firmware.

Hi, yours is Maxis unlock unit? Try insert Maxis sim card and try to activate it.

If it is locked unit, then you're in trouble as for now unless you have the simcard where your phone lock with. say AT&T.
Right now, there is no method to jailbreak and unlock with the latest baseband.

I assume that the person who sold to you already unlock the unit before sell to you. As 3.0.X is available for unlock but not 3.1 with the latest baseband.
Well, you at least can wait for DevTeam to exploit the baseband in near future. wink.gif

Can jailbreak assuming that you already jailbreak it when you're on 3.0.X, and using the custom ipsw to upgrade the firmware, but does not upgrade baseband.

Yours bought from where? Locked set? if 3.0.1 still can jailbreak and use ultrasn0w to unlock it to another carrier.

Apparently, you can't jailbreak OS 3.1 OTB at the moment. Blackra1n will releasing his tool which we able to jailbreak soon rclxms.gif

Most of the app I use for 3.0.1 work with 3.1.2. Only Ringtones3 ain't work where after converting your ringtone, the ringtone will not appear in the ringtone list cry.gif
