if u just got your 3GS out of the box and it ships with 3.1 firmware.. Then, No way.. Your 3GS can't be JB... You can only restore IF and only IF u did a store the ECID SHSH’s to Saurik before.. If not.. just said good bye JB..

*update: the mobile carriername gone missing problem was the baseband still on 3.0.1 version and your iphone OS was running 3.1. i guess i wait until they release a jb for those OTB 3.1 3gs then. for now i'll rather stick to ori firmware to see if its more stable. cant take the network lost, calls drops issue anymore.

when i clicked cydia, on top there is a line saying this device has a 3.1 ECID SHSH on file.. this means that it is safe to upgrade to 3.1 and JB soon right?

It seems that my iPhone 2G has no cydia when i jailbreak it with Pwnage Tool, with a mac to 3.1.

helo ...guys i have upgraded my iphone 3gs from 3.01 to 3.1 n the baseband is also updated...n i will like to jailbreak and i m using offcial maxis line...
is it possbile to jailbreak?i know the pwng tool 3.1 is out n is for mac os x...where can i get the custom firmware?plz help thanks...alot

It is not possible to jailbreak as the pwn cannot modified the current 3.1 baseband.
The possible way now is if you're on 3.0.1, you can update the firmware to 3.1 but does not change the baseband by customize an ipsw firmware.

until the 3.1 iphone 3gs issue is solved... i guess im going to be stuck with my current official iphone 3gs....

erm... got one question here.. i think something wrong with my Iphone.. the battery always suddenly drop abour 30-40% when i sync with itune..

tat day Maxis staff sked me by saying " we can trace that u JB ur phone tru IMEI.. and we will fine u RM2k and void ur warranty and i was like erm.. but i dont want to argue with him.."

any untraceable way to restore my phone? btw.. i got "this device has a 3.1 ECID SHSH on file" already..

That Maxis person really know how to pull your legs. Restoring your phone will always remove any trace of JB, as long as you don't sync your phone with the backup.
