i suggest TS put a big warning on the first post. put a summary list of the iPhone & firmware that can be jailbreak and unlock...

example;

No, you can't! Currently there is no way you can JB with 3.1 firmware and yet, you can't downgrade to 3.0.1 neither. Oh unless you already save your 3.0 ECID SHSH into Cydia. But the process for downgrade quite long.

Right now I have a problem with my jailbroken iPhone 3gs. It seems I'm no longer being able to use cellular data (3g)

I have switched off the Wifi, toggled on 3G services in phone settings but it's still not working.

Anyone here was having same problem and managed to find the solution?

Did you install SBSettings? If yes, you need to enable edge as well.

i just got my 3.0.1 done jailbroken

okay, so i've been told that 3.0.1 cannot be jailbroken on i3gs by some of the forumers
so i tot of downgrading it to 3.0 to get to cydia, but actually no need for it \
i downloaded 3.0 fw and redsnow0.8
just ran 0.8 and select 3.0fw instead of 3.0.1
then wallah~ fw passed and keep hitting next then i'm done with it without having to downgrade it xD

Who told you OS3.0.1 cannot be JB'ed? It can be! Only 3.1 cannot yet be JB'ed.

But if you ask me, stay at OS3.0 for the time being, do not upgrade to 3.0.1 as the former, IMO is more stable. Then when there is JB for 3.1, you can upgrade.

I've saved my file back in cydia with the "make my life easier"~
but now i've upgraded my iphone 3gs (restore) to 3.1 due to my iPhone crashes and have to do restore but apple only allow it on 3.1
So i have to wait dev team to have a solution for 3.1 i only can jailbreak back my phone right??

I wanna make this clear so i wont keep worrying i wont be able to jailbreak my iPhone anymore~

my phone came with 3.0.1 and downgrading is so much hassle >< i think i'll just wait now for 3.1.1 or 3.2 and jb as well

the 3.1 ECID u saved via cydia is useless now until the dev-team release the jailbreak for 3.1. but it will be very useful once jailbreak 3.1 is out. when apple release newer firmware and u accidentally upgrade to the newer firmware, u can always go back to 3.1 and re-jailbreak again...prevention is better than cure. dont worry, the jailbreak for 3.1 is going to be release soon as they already found an exploit

Hey all, my iPhone 2G was locked after I stupidly update the firmware from iTunes.
I've just gotten this phone and know nothing about iTunes and iPhone.

I tried to unlock the phone using redsn0w 0.8, firmware 3.0 (File:iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw), bootloaders (BL-39 and BL-46).
However after the phone restarted from 'Downloading Jailbreak Data..." everything is still same, locked.
What's the problem huh?

Yes, if you are on OS3.0.1, stick with it for the time being. For future upgrades, do it only when the DevTeam has come out with the JB unless of course you do not intend to JB your iPhone at all. But do scour the threads here first before attempting anything lest you regret doing something which can adversely affect your expensive gadget.

i'm using custom .ipsw from other guy. my iphone 3g use fw 3.1 jb. work great. i dun know what they did, but i think they convert it from mac so we, windows user able to update.

i save the ECID is 3.0 one... is it ok too??
