Dear all,

After reading a few pages of this topic.. the conclusion of JB an Iphone 3Gs with 3.0.1 FW is :

1) Download Red Snow and the Iphone 3.0 Firmware

2) (this is the part i not very sure)skip the restore to 3.0 fw, since Apple dont allow u to restore to any fw besides 3.1?

3) run redsnow.exe

4) when click browse, choose the 3.0 firmware that i downloaded in Step 1?

5) Check Cydia and uncheck ICY?

6) follow the steps until the JB finish...

7) Backup dunno wat CID or wat D tru Cydia? got something like "make my life easier" (this part i also not very understand but must do it for dunno wat safety)

am i correct for those steps above, especially step 2, must i restore??

is there anything i shud take care of before and after JB?

hope can get a good guide from u guys bcoz i m getting my phone tmr thanks in advance..

my advice after u JB? pls be careful with wat u install thru cydia. i think some application like supreme preferences can messed up ur phone and resort u to restore the phone causing u to lose the jailbreak. and also install Open SSH in case ur cydia started to crash...some ppl have this problem where they cant run cydia because its suddenly decide to crash everytime u run it...a simple SSH into ur phone will fix this problem.

thank u very very for the guide... but... i dont really understand the bold part.. and to install Open SSH, i must JB then go Cydia to find right? any setting to do when install Open SSH?

Added on October 1, 2009, 11:44 amand my computer has iTunes 9.. and Iphone configuration utility.. there wont be any issue between my JB 3Gs 3.0.1 and those softwares right?

Yes, Open SSH u need to install via cydia. read here for more info http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=22001502

the supreme preferences is an application u can download from cydia. it just an example of an application that could probably messed up ur phone. some user have use it without any problem while others have..what im trying to say is install software from cydia with caution. try to read the feedback of that particular software before installing it....hope that helps.

Hey all, my iPhone 2G was locked after I stupidly update the firmware from iTunes.
I've just gotten this phone and know nothing about iTunes and iPhone.

I tried to unlock the phone using redsn0w 0.8, firmware 3.0 (File:iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw), bootloaders (BL-39 and BL-46).
However after the phone restarted from 'Downloading Jailbreak Data..." everything is still same, locked.
What's the problem huh?

Your first line is the answer.

If you read a few posts back, you'll know that 3.1 firmware is NOT cracked yet, so redsn0w won't work for it.

if u upgrade to 3.1. u have 2 options.

1) if u r on Windows, downgrade to 3.0, re-unlock and jailbreak using redsn0w Link

2) if u r on MacOSX, use Pwnagetool to unlock and jailbreak 3.1 Link

I don't think this will work.

IINM won't upgrading to 3.1 also upgrade the baseband, meaning you're shafted anyway?

the baseband dont get upgraded on 2g anymore, only for the 3g and 3gs

Hi,

I am still confuse with this ECID SHSH on file and would like to seek clarification. I have already patch my my host file that points to Saurik server.

iPhone Model: 3GS 16GB
Firmware: 3.0.1 - already jailbreak

In Cydia I have this message:

"This device has a 3.1 ECID SHSH on file"

Does this mean I can restore back to OS 3.0 or 3.0.1 if I screw up my iPhone OS.

no, u cant restore back to 3.0 or 3.0.1 but u can restore to 3.1 anytime in the future when apple has release newer firmware.

I hv a question, let say I have FW3.0.1 + JB + backup my ECID , if my i3GS got problem and I want to restore back to FW3.0.1 possible or not? cause FP mention "Apple has stopped signing 3.0 and 3.0.1 restore files. That means that if you have a 3GS iPhone you cannot restore any firmware other than 3.1"

erm.. i already JB my iphone 3Gs.. but no make my life easier button eh?

i look around the net and some said this service is temporary unavailable.. some said if u missed it.. u will never get to do it already.. =.='' how to backup ECID via Cydia then?

Added on October 2, 2009, 2:17 amerm.. ok.. what i did just now was.. i clicked on the changes... then update watever crap... and restart cydia.. tada.. the make my life easier come out and i just clicked on it then..

then there is a line say that this device has a pending TSS request.. i guess that is normal lor

i'm using a iphone 2G
i try to upgrade to new firmware with iTunes (iPhone1,1_3.1_7C144_Restore)
after restore, it promt" the SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported"
Now iTunes can't even detect my device.
i try DFS, it only shows the summary Name. NO Capacity, Software Version and Serial NO.
I try Quickpwn, but still can't USE.
Even i restore the FW, the result still the same, always in SOS page.


Can anyone can help me solve this problem??

however, after i got my phone to work again, my backup doesnt seem to work. ( the iphone would hang each time during reboot ( stuck at progress bar ) ) .
- still finding a way to 'read' my backup hehe.

p/s: well, at least i got my phone working back lol. as far as i know, there's no jb for 3.1 yet on windows.

yup now for fw 3.1 still wainting officially unlocked version(3gs) but for 2g/3g just need to jailbreak.

regarding your problem i can help..that problem only happen when u accidentally update to 3.1 OS.right?

depends on what ECID u saved. is it 3.1 or 3.0? if u saved 3.0, then lucky u, u can always restore back to 3.0...
