Hey guys,

How to set my laptop brigthness??It seems like it would not save and stay on the settings.

Like evertime i adjust it already than when ever i shut down my laptop than i switch on again the next time i wanna use than the brightness is not as wat i set the previous time.

Does you all encounter such things?or is there a way to set it?because like for other laptop it would stay on the brightness you adjusted when ever u switch it on again.

It is a windows settings.

Go to control panel > power option > Choose a plan > Change plan settings > Set the brightness.

But i don't recommend changing settings of "Power Saver" plan.

have been a vaio user for almost one year VGN SZ75GN. into the second mth fan was out, overheated and killed the power supply. changed in no time at midvalley and was fine. never really faced any major problems.

recently after some updates form microsoft, i had to recover form previous saved mode. then few weeks ago, charger went dead. changed to new charger now power supply wnet dead.cant charge sigh

will be sending in for repairs.

went browsing and looked up the TP series..  its now on discount. ordered online and waiting for confirmation.

Added you name onto the list.

Sorry to hear about your SZ.

But why you ordered online for TP? The package for TP is better than Sony STyle store?

in Sony Style Store you can get free RAM upgrade + MS Office Home And Student Full version. That's what i heard from Sony Style BTS.

No la. power saver plan purpose is to save power (battery life) right. So better don't do anything as it is already set to reduce the usage of the power. but it's all up to you. I'm just suggesting.

BTW your issue already solved?

No, normal battery is not like that. You didn't turn on the battery care function did you?
On a side note, always charging the battery to 100% full is not the best thing. Keeping it at 40% to 50% is best.

the battery drain (or you call it as "the battery if leave on the laptop, the electric inside the battery will gone very fast") is known problem for previous release batch for sr and z series too, but in your case, to decrease until 48% isnt normal for the battery just for one night. your battery lifespan might have been reduce in this case.

you can check at control panel, if i'm not mistaken. the battery best keep at 40% only if you decide to not use the battery for like week(s) or month(s).

i have the suspected 'battery drain' issues within this few days.
dunno if it's a real problem or just the setting totally eats the power quickly.

what i usually do on my Z is during usage, i used to charge up to 100%, then use high performance setting.
after that before going to sleep or away i unplug the power cable & put the laptop on sleep mode.
next day about evening time it's totally no power so i have to restart as normal.

is it advisable to do that?

i wouldnt recommend to do that if you want to keep the battery level at 100%, well, usually around 97% for fully boot to windows. t overcome this problem, what people do is, charge it fully, then take out the battery from the notebook instead of let it inside. the next time you want to use the battery, you've to insert it back to the notebook. it might hassle to some user, but until now, sadly, this issue has no cure.

Added on May 5, 2009, 4:28 pmfor one night for fully charged battery inside the power off notebook , the battery will have around 75% ~ 95% roughly on the next day.

yeah, i still have remaining about 75-90% power left the next day when i put the laptop in sleep/hibernate mode.

thanks for your advise, i'll try to avoid that for the sake of battery life smile.gif

Hmm why sleep instead of hibernate or shutdown?
AFAIK they are not the same, sleep doesn't fully power down which means it is still draining your battery, while hibernate does fully power down.

i know that, it only turns off the LCD & few hardwares, but not fully

easy to start almost instantly that's why i use sleep.
sometimes hibernate & shutdown completely takes longer time to restart. most of VAIOs i've ever use have that problem.

It's VAIO not VIAO (Video Audio Intelligence Organizer) tongue.gif

FW series already 2 generation, i never had customer complained about FW at all. In fact, this model has the least customer sent their unit to the service center.
