Some updates on new/re-design VAIO Z:
Highlights:
0. Processors i5 or i7
1. The GPU is using NVIDIA 310M, instead of NVIDIA GT 330M.
2. The backlight keyboard is now available

finally, backlit keyboard made a debut in VAIOs.

Waited too long for this.

Hmmm... Comparing the current FW & future F outlook, I personally prefer the FW, which look more futuristic to me.

But the F series got backlit keypad which I dreamed of~~~

Yea..dats what I have been told. I went to Sony Style in Pyramid just now, planning to get 9-cell batt for my FW. But the price is RM925. Haih.
Better take a gud care of my battery, if not I have to swipe my cc loo.

Let me get this correct, u mean if I'm running the FW without the battery (detach), the cooling pad from the USB will run?
- Yes, I'm using my FW without the battery at home, the USB cooling pad is blowing.

But it'll save u the effort to find the plug whenever u go, it'll amaze ppl with ur huge lappy running for hours without cable outside too as a bonus

It looks cool though as u said..but i need to fork out another 900. I will buy if there is any need.

I've bought DVD-R, planning to create the recovery disc. However, because I did not create the recovery disc immediately after I brought it home, I would like to restore everything back to it's original condition, like how the Sony Style give it to me before creating the recovery disc. Do you guys have any idea on how to restore it back?

Another thing, I've attached 2 pictures. As you can see, the desktop of the show units in Sony Style/Centre are as the attachment2. However sometimes, my desktop showed as attachment1. I've circled the difference between attachment 1 and attachment 2. Do you guys have any idea why is it like that?

Oh, by the way, is it okay for my one-week old laptop to produce some soft sound (but you'll be able to hear it) when your laptop is switched on? It's like "z z z" sound.

Okay, that's all for now. I'm sorry to trouble you guys with so many questions but I'm such a noobie when it comes to computing stuff. Ha ha. thanks for answering my question in advance!

The z z z sound I believe is the fan being turned on while it's hot. It'll switch off once the laptop is cool down. Better check with other sifu here.

By the way, My FW dun have such bar, what do u call that? VAIO something?? I 4got the name. Why my VAIO isn't equipped with that? Where should I get that? I'm now using stardock instead for the time being~

but i just switch on my laptop for few minutes and the sound can be heard. But it stops for awhile and appear again. omg. I'm still waiting for other sifu here to reply me

that bar is called the vaio gate.it doesn matter,bot are the same.

Yes, the bar is Vaio Gate. If you mouse over than you will see the list of icons such as Office, Webcam, WinBD and stuff. The first one is called RSS feed. I havent tried to explore yet but I believe you can turn off the RSS feed.

Regarding the sound, ot could be the fan, but I havent heard any audbile sound when my laptop is turned on. Only the annoying BDRom drive sound which I can live with it.

So it's the sound of the fan.

I believe u could only hear them when u're alone in the room in midnight, where it's very silent room.


So, who can show me how can I get this Vaio Gate thingy? Why it's not in my FW by default??

Dalphinus, its already there when I get my laptop.

No need to perform system recovery before creating recovery disc. Recovery disc isn't back up disc. Recovery disc contains only information valuable for reinstalling the default OEM Windows and Vaio drivers. All your current datas not related for recovery will not be burned into the DVD-R.

The sound comes from the top left or bottom right?
and which model you bought? Izzit the CW1x model?

select start first,then type Vaio Gate in search all programs.

Hi everyone, i am interested in VAIO CW series and thinking to buy one myself. However i'm concerned about the operating system which is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit as i personally prefer 32-bit. Is it possible for me to choose 32-bit instead of 64-bit?


P/S: VAIO stands for Visual Audio Intelligence Organiser, according to Wikipedia
