Hi everyone, i am interested in VAIO CW series and thinking to buy one myself. However i'm concerned about the operating system which is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit as i personally prefer 32-bit. Is it possible for me to choose 32-bit instead of 64-bit? P/S: VAIO stands for Visual Audio Intelligence Organiser, according to WikipediaThis post has been edited by caspersky: Jan 10 2010, 01:47 PM

Mainly because of software compatibility issues. I like to go around websites and install useful software for my computer, but 64-bits software are not as commonly available as 32-bits, and i am also afraid with 64-bits some old school games cannot be played.

The current price for CW16 (RM3999) is still acceptable for me. I am afraid that the new updates will cost RM4k plus which is out of my budget...

QUOTE(V12Kompressor @ Jan 16 2010, 11:46 AM) Current CW price has been revised to RM 3,699 Is it? Where do you find the current price? Is it for CW16? SonyStyle still has the RM3999 for CW16.

So is it reasonable to assume that the current price for CW16 (RM3699) will continue until March?

CW review: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Sony-V...ok.23234.0.htmlNW review: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Sony-V...ok.22021.0.html1. CW16 is lighter than NW25, and 14' is perfect size for me 2. CW16 is the only laptop i have seen which packs GT230M into a 14', and this GPU can play any current game on the market fluently (not high details of course) 3. CW16 has excellent heat dissipation, i'm surprised that laptop with such powerful GPU can manage heat that well. The only nice things i like about NW are design and price. But i still go over CW for the nice GPU.

QUOTE(ryosuke @ Jan 19 2010, 02:57 AM) hi there, try to contact sony and ask about it. The 3 months extended warranty is only valid if you register your sony product within 7 days from the day you purchase. Just try to call them or go to sony service center and tell them your situation, i assume her laptop cant turn on? if it is motherboard kaput, try and use the fan issue to make an argument. If we register the product within 7 days, would that mean we have 15 months of warranty in total?

Buying electronics stuff from major retailers in Australia is like a total rip-off if you compare the price with Malaysia...

The thing is, Turbo Boost and Hyper Threading are only worthwhile IF you use them. The high price is also due to the fact that they are new processors. Unless you are going to do a lot of CPU intensive tasks(like video encoding, 3D rendering), you won't notice significant difference during your daily use.
