here's a link i found on some of the popular collar type.. and also note that today, many designers are also coming out with smaller collars to complement slim ties..

The 2 button collar helps a in keeping the collar stand in shape. If the shirt has high collar band that is. The regular single button one would fold down sometimes or the start of the collars would not touch cleanly and have a gap as the days go on. But they look quite unappealing unbuttoned. I have seen a 3 buttoned one too.

Its the same with 2 button cuffs shirts with is quite the standard nowdays. Some designers simply match the 2 buttoned cuffs to the collar. Or is it the other way around?

People with large neck or double chinned would benefit from such collars. Its not to say its for thin people. But the main function is to create neck length. It would probably be 2-3mm difference compared to single button ones. And then there is is cartoonish 3inch neck collar shirts.....

i don't really like 2 button collars unless i'm wearing a suit else the buttons would look funny, imo.
i'm a fan of bigger collars but will that make me look bigger?

i'm relatively big in size and haven't been taking note at collars that i should get to make me look slimmer/smaller etc tongue.gif

what collars should i use?
shirts at cuffz seem to have a classic straight point collar, correct me if i'm wrong.

hey.. i didn't there's such intereesting topic here..

i agree to lanatir posting in page 2..,

QUOTE(lanatir @ May 18 2009, 01:36 AM)
it's all about wearing the right things for the right time. i have been wearing them for several years and i think they're alright as long as u groom well and carry yourself well with your clothes. but of course it must suit the occasion and environment...

*
it's all about wearing right clothing at the right time / occasion.

and how you carry yourself.

I've always wanted to try a cufflink shirt myself.. but have no guts to do so.. until last month.. smile.gif

finally - i bought myself 1 cufflinks shirt from G2000..

What I like most about the shirt is the fabric.. not really the cufflinks.. but anyway.. they make a great pair.. (cufflink and shirt)

I wear it the 1st time.. to office. Hah.. feels great..

It all depends on your office environment ler. Don't laa wear cufflinks where ur other office mate is only wearing polo shirt.

sometimes.. it's good to be in the herd of ppl.. and not to show off too much.

I only wear nice shirt on monday and tueday.. as that is the only day.. most ppl in the office wear nice shirt and tie.

other day.. a bit more casual.

as for the discussion that - cufflinks are only for certain type of ranks and job.., - there maybe some truth in there.

I first caugh this trend through my doctor friend. He always looks good in his cufflinks shirt. And I think it suits him well too.

So another factor also comes into play - how you carry your self.

Don't laa wear nice shirt with cufflinks.. but acting a bit snobby or sloppy.. in another dept.

make sure - all other aspect is taken care of. Your pants, your socks.., your shoes.., and even your finger nail - yes.. personal grooming is important.

I once saw a salesman or i don't what profesion he is - but he looks a bit odd.. wearing a nice cufflinks shirt but i can see his finger nail is long and black. yucks there.

maybe i'm too young to talk bout cufflinks here but i'm nuts about cufflinks. I have one RAOUL white shirt for important Law functions , pair with suits of course.

Recently purchased two G2000 shirts with french cuffs. smile.gif

Some gents do wear it without a suit but it definitely looks best with one since the suit jacket's bigger cuff opening compliments the french cuff.
