bro,

like this means your average consumption is not 0.14w la. you need to leave your Nokia Energy Profiler in standby mode and let it run for 5 minutes. then you can see your average consumption, should be 0.0x only. if mine with backlight on, already 0.17w - 0.20w, but in standby mode it's 0.05w - 0.07w

and yes, i know the energy profiler is an estimation. but if you're saying your average is 0.14w and the standby hours on my phone at 0.14w with yours is almost 3-4 days difference, then something is really wrong with nokia energy profiler's estimation.

sorry, but i don't quite get what you're trying to ask.
*
Just wanna know if it is connected to the net in some way, or is it just a simple notification to inform me i am back on 3G or something like that.

ohhh....okok, actually it's not telling you that you are on the net or not. it's jsut telling you that, you're using voice call now so your data will not work.

once you finish talking on the phone, you will get another notification telling you that, you can now use your data connection.

Below 3G, you can only use voice or data at any one time. so if you don't want this irritating message to pop-up, what you can do is let your phone run on a 3G network, then this notification won't appear anymore because 3G network supports using voice and data concurrently.

but then, battery life goes down the drain if you enable Dual Mode or UMTS only.

OIC. That's a great explanation, thanks.

So running it in GSM would be the way to go in conserving battery life rite?

trust me, i know how irritating it gets. but theres no way to get rid of it. this only happens when u are below 3G, because you cannot have data and voice at the same time.

if you are on 3G and above, then you won't get this pop-up.

just change your connection setting for your email.

you can either cahnge it to Always ask, or you can select whichever connection you want as your primary.

which email are you using? the built-in email app or Nokia Messaging, or emoze?
*
I am using the built in email app. Is there a method for me the set wlan as the primary connection instead of 3g? Or do I have to set it manually for the web browser as well?

yes, you can set both the email and for your web browser independently.

just go change it in your email settings as well as your web browser settings. set it to whichever connection that you want as primary.

Oh..ok, cause i didn't let it standby for 5 min, i just quote the average with backlight when i start the profiler. a misunderstanding of evaluation. but i trust yrs will also last this long with my usage and 1548mAh. nod.gif

How To Add Unicode Fonts to Symbian:

If you are like me, who got a Nokia E71 with only English but wants to view contents in other languages - e.g. Chinese, Japanese, Korean (CJK), Russian, Hindi, etc. then you will be in a bit of strife.

According to Nokia forum, there is no way that you can install an extra language package on Nokia. You'd have to go to Nokia Care to have them install it for you, for a fee!

Fortunately, the Symbian guru oasisfeng has created a wonderful software called FontRouter. The latest incarnation of the software is the FontRouter LT.

Step 1 - Downloading the Software

There are many versions on the oasisfeng web site, the version that I used was the FontRouter LT for Symbian 9 Beta (Build 20071109) Open Signed Online测试版.

Also download the TrueType font from the same web site: 【TrueType】方正隶变 GBK字体. This contains all the CJK characters(should contain other european characters too). Note that I tried using other Chinese TrueType fonts and my handset failed to start. So experiment with other .ttf files only after you have successfully installed and tested with this one. I am currently using the 方正准圆(FZY3JW.TTF) which is a Chinese true type font and its English characters are very close to the original font on my Nokia E71.

Step 2 - Signing the Software

Symbian is pretty rigorous when it comes to security. Software needs to be digitally signedbefore installing onto the phone. You can try installing the .sis file just as it is and your phone will reject it and complain that the digital certificate/signature is invalid or something of that nature. To sign the file you just downloaded, you will have to go to www.symbiansigned.com. On its front page, there is a URL for openSignedOnlin (Beta). Click this URL and fill in the form on the following page. Note:

* The IMEI number uniquely identifies your handset (e.g. if your phone is stolen, you can report it to the carrier and they can bar the IMEI from the network so that the thief cannot use it). You can find it out by 'dialing' *#06#
* Email - make sure you use a valid email address because you will need to retrieve email from Symbian to carry out the next steps.
* The Application is the .sis file you just downloaded from FontRuter.

Upon successful submission of the form, Symbian will send you an email with a URL to confirm the submission. Click it.

Then Symbian will send you another email with a URL to download the signed version of the .sis file. Just click the URL and save the file.

Step 3 - Installation

Now you can install the signed version of the software that you just downloaded from Symbian using PC Suite. Make sure you install it on the Memory Card, NOT on the Phone Memory (otherwise, if it hangs your handset, you will not be able to bring your phone back to life). During installation, it will warn you that your phone is incompatible with the software, just ignore it and continue.

Then copy the fzlb_gbk.ttf file downloaded in Step 1 into the Memory Card's \data\Fonts directory. You will notice that the file FontRouter.ini has also been created in this directory by the software installation process.

Now it is time to modify the FontRouter.ini file. You can use the Windows Nodepad to edit a copy of the file and then copy it onto the handset using PC Suite. Modify the two lines of the .ini file as following:

FixFontMetrics=0
FixCharMetrics=0

changed the values from 0 to 1 like this:

FixFontMetrics=1
FixCharMetrics=1

and leave everything else the same. If you don't make the changes, the fonts will be curtailed either from the top or bottom.

That's it. Phew! Now it's time to test it - bounce the phone (i.e. switch it off then on).
Euphoria!

yeah if my usage is like yours, defintiely i'll be able to last as long as you. but unfortunately, i have emails coming in and going out every other minute.

sms, calls etc. 2 days plus of usage is good enough for me. lasted double the time before i disabled the tsrautostart.exe

Thanks bro. got it.. notworthy.gif
but this product code i direct key in the nokia software updater to get the firmware or must i "flash" my own product code ?
The NSS need to attach any cable like those tech at lowyat use a "gadget" to attach at the battery slot to do some "flash" or programming" ?

I saw them doing it when i screw up when i update to V200.21.118..(euro Version) and go to change back to current firmware with chi input and reading.

Well, e_trade, i thought u have know it already as a phone dealer laugh.gif , if yr E90 don't have chinese input, i think u have to 1st check the language setting, if the language setting of the phone only provide u eng, french, portugese...etc with NO chi option. Then i assume your case same as mine when update the firmware thru NSU.

my suggested solution have 2 by so far sharing from xavi and others on net

1) Take to NSC,(easy for u with your network in the mobile) nod.gif ask them to give u a Asia Pacific firmware that can view and input chi.

2) If u decide to take a "learning tour", then check yr product code and debrand it..(but no point for u to try if yr E90 is ori and still with warranty) as debrand will viod yr warranty..tht's what i learn from the uncle google.

cause just lost my E71 cry.gif , so using a used E90 which don't support the chinese, try the NSS to upload also not working, kebetulan read the reply from xavi, installed and can read but cannot write..
ha ha, the E90 is ap set, so the NSC also won't help..

Wow sweat.gif didn't know u also use E71, any so unfortunately u lost it?? bad luck man. The ori bat for me now works fine (if u still remember me la). and i also change my bat with the guy i bought the phone, he also give me a fake 1, this one is 97% looks like ori, cause i compare few things include the finishing. Only 3% now that lack is still the Sticker (not as bright as ori sticker) that's all. hmm.gif
