Can you charge it when it is turned off ? Anyway, I suspect that this is hardware problem, like DC-in Board, etc.

Do you have AppleCare ?

No. Hardware? Oh my gosh that's going to be astronomical isn't it?

Yup, it can be depending on the problem. You can send your MBA to Apple and they will quote the price for you, if it is very costly maybe you can seek third-party services ?

Hello, I have a 15" Macbook and my friend dropped it from just about 1 feet height and it started to have problem on the display after about 2 weeks, then I went to the Mac city, they charged me about 3k to change the mother board, the problem was solved for the display. But now I am having a start up issue, it stopped at the Apple logo with loading bar, and it turns off after that. I am thinking if it was the hard drive because I stared the checking with Command +R and it sometime says that it's not able to be repaired, sometime it says appear to be OK. So and suggestions to fix this?

Just replace the HDD is confirm it's faulty. Only take < 1 hour to get it done.

If speakers crack there's no cure unless you replace them.

You will need to get the Mavericks installer online. You should able to re-download it from App Store under the purchased section if you've downloaded it before. Then create a USB installer from it. There are app that help you to make the USB drive.

But the crucial part is your files. You will need to have a Time Machines backup right before you upgrade to Yosemite.
Else you have to manual transfer your files over after downgrade.

Has anybody here tried claiming this?

My 15inch macbook pro kena just few days back. It was ok since i bought it end 2011. Planning to bukak the hdd and take out all my files first before sending to Apple Service Centre. I don't have apple care after the first year. I hope with that article, they will service for free.

Does anybody know if an applecare bought in US can be used on my locally purchased rMBP. Anybody done this successfully. Price difference is more than RM400.

It should work. But to play safe, call AppleCare to confirm: 1800-80-3638.
