I upgraded mine to 16gb, as long as you use the proper modules meant for mac.Since the price is x2/x3 different, is all the ram in market can put inside MBP? |

Dear Sifus,
My wife macbook suddenly can't boot. OS X utilities pop up. Checked Disk utility but still can't resolve. Model : MD313ZP/A bought in 2012 Sent to Apple service centre, they charged RM 100 for diagnose and now asking for RM720 to exchange HDD. Question. 1) Does that mean the current HDD died? 2) Can I recover the data? 3) Why is Apple service centre charging sooooo much for 500gb HDD?? 4) Is there another service centre that can help with a much reasonable price? thanks for your help. I need to solve this problem as my wife is nagging me daily (I'm a PC user so I'm a noob when it comes to Macs). This post has been edited by Gizzi69: Oct 25 2014, 07:51 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

Hi guys,
I need your help regarding my 2012 15" Macbook Pro. I'm unable to connect it to my external LG monitor. The monitor is stuck in Power Saving Mode. ![]() The weird part is that my Macbook is able to connect to the monitor when using Windows via bootcamp with the exact same adapter and HDMI cable. ![]() It also has no problem connecting to my TV. ![]() Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! Update I am able to get it working using a different adapter and DVI-DVI cable. Furthermore, I am also able to get it working using the same adapter I was using and a HDMI-DVI cable (HDMI -> adapter, DVI -> Monitor) This post has been edited by zXJaMeSXz: Oct 26 2014, 01:57 PM |

Product cost + labour + warranty coverage + Apple-epic-markup. If you're the DIY sort, your model is very serviceable. Here's a guide from iFixit - http://goo.gl/aujure Might as well take the opportunity to use an SSD instead of regular HDD. |

Depends which OS X version you running, you can follow this guide to reset password:http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14325?viewlocale=en_US http://coolestguidesontheplanet.com/reset-...ssword-mac-osx/ |

Bought a Mac Pro mid 2014 but after using it for a few months, now feeling a bit regret of not upgrading the SSD hardisk as it is only 128GB currently. Can the hardisk be upgraded to a higher storage after buying? Do advise.

Hi, I’m using MacBook Pro 13" (Mid 2012) Non-Retina. Lately the harddisk (the one that comes along when I bought it, 750gb Toshiba) is showing some problems (Unable to boot up, unable to detect hdd and so on).
I suspect the hard disk will fail on me soon. I would like to change to SSD (prefer speed over storage capacity for now) I’m looking at Intel 530 Series 240GB 2.5-Inch Internal Solid State Drive. I understand that some MBP is very picky on SSD, anyone have any experience in using this drive on MBP 2012 model? Or there is other reliable and compatible SSD model? Please share/help. Thank you. |

QUOTE(kevinwcw @ Dec 23 2014, 09:50 PM) hi guys, suspect your problem is almost similar with mine. except i havent replace the hdd.i am facing a issue on my macbook pro 15 inch which i tried to replace hdd, create bootable pendrive and using internet recovery but it all fail. and the respond on my mac is -white screen (loud fan speed and hot) -show (?) icon any idea and expert know how to solve this issue? i think your mac is trying to boot using the pendrive. can you try remove any pendrive/thumb drive or any sd card/removable media and try to start again? anyway, here's the guide from apple on what to do when you see the question mark thing. http://support.apple.com/en-us/ts1440 This post has been edited by aba9785: Dec 24 2014, 09:08 AM |

Hi there. Some help or experience on the following issue would be appreciated.
Background: I just bought a new MBA Charger in April, and serviced my MBA in January. I'm using a late-2012 MBA 13'. Problem: Not charging. Connects sometimes green light, sometimes orange. Says not charging. Or if 'charging' then 15+ hours to full - but when you remove the charger, % drops by 1-2% every time. When I hold down the option key and clik battery, it says condition: normal (liesssss). Tried: 1) Resetting SMC / 2) Using a different charger and different plug point (both working on the MBP so not charger problem) / 3) Cleaning charger port. Image 1: Estimated battery health. Laptop age: 2 years. Image 2: 33% with 15+ hours to full battery. ![]() Image 3: 32% after removing and instantenously reattaching charger. Shows not charging. ![]() I had an OS issue in January, and I'm so super broke that I'm afraid this is going to cost me a lot to fix. Does it still fall under Apple's coverage because this is the third time I'm going to send it back to them? Is the unit defective? This post has been edited by James_Padfoot: Dec 28 2014, 11:39 PM |
