and one more question my collegue is applying for acca exemption by virtue of his degree . he should contact malaysian office or uk straight away . any one can advise?
Thanks
There are boxes to tick at the ACCA application form for exemption, the form which you fill up when you are applying to take ACCA exam. Give the form to ACCA Malaysia. That's what I do anyway.

QUOTE(whitewolf @ Dec 27 2009, 11:01 PM)
oh im not sure about that but it just said simon goh on the enrolment form. but in timetable is jay, acca.
i've went to haneef's and  most of the time i fell asleep. lol. so i dont think i'll be going to his class.

i know should choose lecturer but it's really annoying when you dont have any identification of where you actually study. also hard to pay at student price because dont have card. even more annoying when people ask you where you study,

and my opinion is that, it doesnt matter where you study, so long as you're committed to it then you'll succeed.
*
I like Haneef though, but I think full time students would appreciate his teaching style more since full time students aren't so tired since they are not working.

Anyway, I do agree with your point above. Although having good lecturers to teach is a plus point, finally, it all boils down to our own effort and commitment.

Hey guys, I'm in a dilemma here. I'm taking F8, 9 and P2 next June sitting but might wanna change P2 with P1 just to have a better schedule for me.

But since I just finished F7 last semester, I'm thinking of just finish off P2 while the knowledge are still somewhat fresh. Are there any amendments for the P2 syllabus next June sitting?

imho, one should always do P2 with P7 (if you're planning to do P7). It's easier to revise F7 than P2 on your own, right? biggrin.gif

Interesting info. Why is taking P2 and P7 a good combo? Some of their syllabus are similar?

So say if i don't take P2, P1 and P3, which is easier? i plan to increase my marks for F8 and F9 for my OBU (if I ever want to do it), so the professional paper should be less taxing...

Not some. To do P7, it is essential that you revise F7 & P2 back. If you read past year answers you will realise a large portion of the answers have something to do with accounting treatment explanation. It's definitely a misconception that one need not revise P2 at all for P7 (sunway students usually tell you this, either due to them being ignorant or what. I have friends telling me that they DON revise for p2/F7 which is total bs- some failed some passed). It definitely helps if you do P2 and P7 together. At least when you revise for P2, you know you're revising for P7 as well. There's even a week gap in between P2 and P7. Why stress for back-to-back exams for p1 p2 p3? It's a stupid choice really imho. I'm not super bright or what. Just telling from what I've experienced so far smile.gif. Why stress more by choosing a dumb2 combination of subj right? smile.gif

Well, in terms of understanding the subject P1 is easier- all easy theories nothing complicated. P3 got a bit of calculation and theories(a lot of models). When it comes to examination though P1 can be as nasty(the way they set the Q) as P3.

On the note of 'prestige', yes, people out there (the general public) regard ACCA higher than degree.

But for my firm (at least), they prefer degree grads over acca?
Why?

The bond period of 4 years makes retaining degree graduates up to senior level (where the shortages generally occur) easier, whereas ACCA grads are flexible and can leave whenever they so please. (it's just a matter of 'retention', as one of the actions taken to address the horrible turnover in audit)

Therefore, from a firm point of view, they prefer degree students imo, and that's why I find my firm takes in more degree than ACCA, even if there are alot of applications from ACCA affiliates. (I implied this from my observation, might have other reasons though)

@fastandfurious = Me too. I did CAT+ACCA in 2 1/2 years and regretted it lol.

General public oso regard ICAEW > ACCA, actually. ACCA is far too common already sleep.gif But in terms of publisity and awareness by the general non-accounting public, ACCA > ICAEW
*
So, u mean that ACCA is less important than the other degree?
Can anyone who finish acca give opinion on this issue?

Both of them are teaching at Taylor's.
