just to add, when you buy stuff at supermarket they will ask if you want plastic bag or not. if you say yes, they will add 5 yen to your bill. at least that's whats happening in mishima. might not apply to tokyo, im not sure
*
i think the 5 yen rules applies to most of japan but not tokyo, i was actually kinda surprised when i moved here. they din charge me 5 yen! but im so used to using eco bags d.

i stayed at Juyoh hotel
Its rather far according to firedauz, but the neighborhood is pretty much laid back.. no busy cars etc etc..
For Juyoh single room 3tatami w/ shared bathroom/shower, its 3200yen per night

I personally vouched K's House on this matter; ive stayed there for 4 nights.

Even though their rooms are rather small, but the reception service was very good, friendly and helpful. They (japanese staffs) probably can speak better eigo than most of us brows.gif You can't beat the price anywhere for what you'll get. And you don't need to buy a guide book; they have tonnes of maps and guide books readily for you to borrow rclxms.gif

well, if i'm travelling alone, there's a lot of cheap option, but i'm travelling with my wife and having a shared bathroom which you need to walk out from your room, is really mendokusai.... and K's house tokyo is more expensive than Oak for semi double room with ensuite bathroom, by JPY2300.

so far, for me Oak is cheap for its semi double room ensuite, within taito-ku.

Different story lah if travel with a partner tongue.gif

One more thing, K's House Tokyo is just few steps away from Toei Oedo subway line station, Kuramae, which is a blessing. I love the Oedo subway man; with it you can go straight to Ryogoku, Ueno, Tsukiji, Akabanebashi (for Tokyo Tower), Roppongi, Yoyogi and Shinjuku.

That's if you are lazy to switch lines.

that's one convenient place to stay which can connect to many cities. I always has to switch at least once.

Captured at the shops just outside the Inokashira Park. ahh i think is better to move the finder a little more to the right, so that the left wont be so empty..
