guys regarding the iafm issue,

some say, the indicator would be

1. tak..tak..tak sound - TRUE
2. fc increase - TRUE
3. loose pickup at low rpm - Not so sure, sounds true too.

also some say, only first batch of saga got this problem..other batches are safe from this.
if its true why some of us has to change it 3 times?
if its faulty, replacing a new ones should solve it.
-because the service centre replaced it with the 1st batched spare part, instead of the 2nd batch.and yes, for 3 times. thats the best answer i can find to fulfill the question in ur mind.

Is it faulty design? - it wont last long and not durable? no matter how many times u changed it ...it will spoil later in short time
what happens if after 3 year / no more warranty u have to pay to change it? for a long term its gonna cost us a lot
- as mentioned, only 1st batch got issue, as long u got changed to the 2nd batch, the issue will be overcome meantime. this case is same as savvy's rear brake issue. They are calling back the owners for a free replacement.hopefully same to our case.

I got the feeling that mine is faulty, i feel loss of pickup at low rpm..and the fc is increased a bit. engine sound a bit rough and got little tak tak sound even after ive done my service
- dun guess, proceed to the centre and consult the mechanic. They done that, they should know better than us.seriously.

he wax it, instead of polish.monitor the area after a week if the paint fades away.

1. got that kinda sound n it gets louder as time goes by
2. din't really notice this
3. no difference

i changed it last 2 weeks. but now got the faint sound of tak tak tak. maybe after a few month i will need to change again. im not sure bout the car batch iafm differences but as far as i know, they change it to a new one for every faulty iafm. and the new one i believe is used for the new batch too.

My Car : Proton Saga 1.3 (30000km , 2.5 years) service at 5000km intervals

i came here in search for suggestion for my possible problem

7 days ago, i headed over a petrol station

pumped in full gas, filled up my tyres with air

drove to work

on the way home on the federal highway, i had a toned down radio and i could hear ratling sounds from the hood area

i noticed this ratling sounds only come when i accelerate above 2500RPM, and immediately releasing the pedal, the ratling gets softer till eventually none
the ratling sounds sounds like an old taxi sort of sound and gets louder as i acclerate
this happens on gears around 3,4,5 as i accelerate between 60-100kmph

on Neutral free gear, revving up the engine to 3500RPM does not produce any sounds

i noticed a slight smell of oil through my airconds when i hear louder ratling sounds as well.

i would head over the workshop this weekend but im seeking for some initial pointers and how critical this is sad.gif

EDIT:

what is the IAFM issue? i just saw some1 post before me.. anyways, im new in this side of the forum and im new towards cars smile.gif

bro, from the given year of ure car, i assume that ure car is not the new saga(BLM)? new saga has a module which can vary the distance of the air intake path which is called iafm.

Ya, interest is increase already, mine also 3.75% from Public Bank for 5 years.
The rebate is RM300 cash and also RM1000 service voucher.
The salesman say no need to tinted window because the new car already install already, i don't know it is true or not.
*
it's true but it's low quality tint
i suggest u monitor the tint...if have any problem....recommend u change to a branded one / much better one

Tak tak tak could be an indicator for the IAFM prob as mentioned by xshiro in earlier post ~

My engine sound also bukan main kuat @@ cannot stand outside the car for long

About the pick up, if no power at certain rpm, dun press oil in order to make it faster, to avoid sudden shooting in front @@
*
engine loud is nt just the IAFM ......they use petronas 15w-40 also a factor....that is low quality oil
try use other brand...

sure they will redo.....but do u want to take back to redo every month?
for me..i will find some fine quality tint for my car
remember....WORKMANSHIP is important
it will worth u in the future to get a good tint
you're nt the only one with bubble problem with your saga already

12th march 2008 / 2009?
2008 is 1st batch
2009 is the newest batch AKA with added accesories

Easy, just visit any show room or call the proton SA.

5 year include most engine vital part.

3 year for other like power window, mechanical part and so on.

With in 3 year can said the car is fully warranty. Just service cost need to pay.
*
Some said 2 years, some said 3 years, 5 years????????

Does anyone that buy the car know about this?

How about the EWP?

NOO...tint is still tint
tint means a layer of paper on the surface of the glass to reflect sun light or heat
which is removeable
low quality cuz many ppl already complain about the bubble problem which is because the workmanship is BAD
and proton never use good tint as well
so better find nicer tint brand and good WORKMANSHIP so your tint won't have problem in the future

I think proton should follow P2 to have optional accesories to install. This would be better. Customers can select what they need.
Brothers using manual, how is the performance? any one put in add on's like Pivot volatge stabalizer?
