for the fan, i suggest u look for the latest BIOS for ur laptop from Acer instead... that's wat is controlling the fan...

but honestly speaking, even at faster rpm or spinning up at lower temperature, it doesn't help much..

my compaq v3000 series with 7150 died last week after 17month of service.

Most likely failure were due to small tiny air intake vent design that leads to overheat!

the integrated 6150 and 7150's problem is different from that of the GeForce 8M...

besides, GeForce 8800M are not affected..

my vaio uses 8400M GT. on 24 hours. no cooler whatsoever. already 1 year plus. still going strong. if its breakdown, just send warranty. no use to keep living in fear for uncertain stories.

you can extend Sony official warranty up to 3 years. pay a bit la. if its too expensive for you then get an extended warranty from shops like Best Denki or Seng Heng. i got mine covered for 5 years for only RM200. complete peace of mind. last month a glass of plain water dropped into my Vaio and they repaired it for free with spareparts ordered from Japan. thanks to the warranty. to be honest i used it like im using Panasonic Toughbook. dropped it many time, travel all around, smoke, dust, rain, power on 24 hours you name it. i love my Vaio thumbup.gif

I'm a V3000 user here... mobo died after 10months, previous replacement of mobo is under their extended warranty... now no more extended warranty... same issue come out again...

I have make a complaint to NCCC about this manner... what is the points of buying a extended warranty where the replacement mobo will continue having a problem later. it the material that Nvidia used to built the damn chip which causing the problem. and Nvidia already PAID a huge compensation to all their effected clients like HP, DELL and etc...

So what we get... we keep buying their warranty package and keep sending the laptop to them every year... this is stupid.

Under the Customer Protection Act we have our right & protected, they should ensure that their replacment of the new mobo should not have the same error again OR should not even replace a mobo to their client that they know it will fail. If they fail to do so, we should send in a complaint to NCCC.

It our right for GOD Sake.

to complete the sentence, it's on top of the original warranty, and covers only issues related to the GPU...

which imho is not much compared to what BenQ is doing...

and how old is this??? like at least 2yrs ago???

Not worth repairing (and i'm the third person who agreed)...better get yourself a new laptop..well, for some NV 8M Series are somewhat wavy as i can say...some people encounter the problem with it in just few weeks/months but for some takes a whole year before it breakdown...

Well, not worth repairing if you ask me nod.gif
