so instead of "everytime" u mean "only one time"? how can u be so sure u get the error because of emptying the trash?

u bootcamp before?
*
i used to have a bootcamp windows 7 ultimate x32(tested only though and everything was smooth even aero showed) but was deleted due to lack of space(my humble and small 80gig hdd). there was no problem until i securely empty the trash. I've googled before and tried the possible convenient solution for me and it dint worked out. Im not the 1st person to experience this though. Maybe its just a nasty bug > <"

haa that's ur problem smile.gif i got it before too. i believe this is a common bug in bootcamp, saw quite a number of people experiencing this as well. doesnt have anything to do with secure erase

this is what happened. the FIRST time we partition the hdd for bootcamp, as u know OSX creates a partition to install windows on it. so we go ahead n install windows, blablabla, everything went fine.

but when one day we decide to Merge as a Single Partition, somehow the merging didnt delete some data stuck at the bootcamp partition. im not familiar with the technicalities, but it's something like we have some leftover files stuck at where the bootcamp partition was. we do stil end up with a single partition though.

because of this stuck leftover data, we get that error. those 'files cannot be moved' are referring to those data.

sometimes defragging works for some reason. the only sure-fire way i know to fix this is to clone ur system to an external HDD, erase the internal hdd, and clone back. sad.gif

the weird thing i notice is that this occurs a lot more on bootcamp 3.0. i only got it a few times in bootcamp 2.0, and i NEVER got it during the beta +_+

Has anyone come across windows activation issues on Vmware fusion?
My situation is: Ive activated my windows 7(64bit) via bootcamp. When i run with virtual machine, it says my windows needs activation and my key cannot be used for this computer. Apparently this is a known problem(click here), but Ive follow the steps and still couldnt solve the problem.
Any ideas?..

guys, i have a question on boot camp assistant. i've checked my version of boot camp assistant and it's 3.0.2. i'm planning to get the windows 7 64bit disk to install via boot camp but i've read that the version needed is 3.1. The thing is, when i run software update, it would say that i have no updates at the moment and bootcamp 3.1 won't show. what do i need to do?

Added on May 18, 2010, 3:25 pmand yeah, i tried downloading the bootcamp 3.1 on the apple website but the file extension is .exe which means it's meant for windows rite? i'm using a mac osx 10.6

^ if im not mistaken, juz install windows 7 64bit 1st using 3.0.2. when u're done, log into windows an open the 3.1 .exe from there. i think the update are just drivers.

Yea. I read up on it. Now only I understand that the 3.1 was
meant for after the windows is installed. Thanks a lot. By the way, after I install windows via bootcamp, can I run widows on mac using vmware?

u can make a virtual machine based on ur boot camp partition. so u do something in the VM, log out OSX, log in bootcamp, the changes are there smile.gif

u can also choose to create a brand new VM, not based on ur boot camp partition. obviously this takes up more space and u need another windows license for this

Since you already have bootcamp I think its better to use the bootcamp instead of installing another VMWare... Its not really that hassle as Mac boots up quite fast actually unless you are like really converting stuff between mac and windows...

Got a question (a window user atm - looking to move to apple)

1. Does it mean that if I run PD, I could run any application that only exist in windows like SAPGUI and etc?

No you don't need 2 license. PD can import the bootcamp partition to be used in PD/VMware.
