Im not in malaysia. So that means that there are micro atx boards for the core i5. All i need is the suitable PSU and casing to go with it.

that's a sweet setup, but I really can't imagine how long it took for u to remove the rivets manually .. get modular PSU like Corsair HX 620, the slim and modular cable really come in handy... if u sleeve the connectors and sata cable, it would be totally awesome looking case loh ..

@doomThank heavens my Stanley screwdriver is hard enough to punch through those rivets, whole process took me less than an hour. i'd thought about hx520/620 or cm silent pro m600 but sadly due to budget issue, cannot procure those PSU or a dremel/rtx for proper mod work hmmm cable sleeving... will try that some time in the near future how's your 5850 performance ? good temps & silent ? @crapp0just checked newegg, asus maximus III gene, MSI p55m-gd45 & gigabyte GA-P55M-UD4 This post has been edited by fr0sti3: Oct 15 2009, 10:34 AM

@fr0sti3 Perfect, 1st time ever in my 5 years of gc migration I dont need to worry about putting a third party cooler on it at all It's quiet and cool .. well the temperature isn't low to bottom of earth but it's fine within 60c at load. but when I get my things ready I'd try to slap my Trad2 on it ..

@doom whoa 5850 at least it is power efficient and powerful. nice... when will take a jump and upgrade to i7 @crapp0 shuttle casing? itx board might be possible with some mod. or just go buy itx casing with itx board. should be widely available.

Hey guys, just knew about this thread. I am totally a newbie in this, but was wondering if anyone can recommend me a good system and casing?
Primary use would be for browsing, torrenting, and the occasional games like Red Alert 3,Warhammer: Dawn of War, Football Manager. Not high end gaming, just ok enough specs to run those games smoothly.
Budget would be less than RM2000, where can I purchase them in KL. I quite like Silverstone's casings. Many thanks and I appreciate the feedbacks guys.
Edit: Scratch that, Aopen G326 looks kinda nice as well, wonder what can I fit inside that is under Rm2000?

So can a micro atx board fit into a SFF casing, something like a shuttle pc casing or maybe just abit bigger?
Since i am planning to build a portable SFF core i5 system with a ati 5850. I would prefer a coolermaster case but i dont think they have any cases which may fit a core i5 in a sff.

@slyyoung With ur budget I dont think u should look at Silverstone case coz it cost starting from RM3++...
look for other model like microfly and etc which would give u better deal.
go for AMD setup see if can fit it under ur budget loh
@crapp0 matx motherboard can fit in any micro atx specific case.
but most likely wont fit into shuttle kind of case..
for your requirement any matx case would be able to do so but the size is definitely larger than Shuttle ...

So theres no p55 board which is capable of fitting into a shuttle type of casing? So whats the smallest casing i can get for a micro atx motherboard? and whats its size in relation to a shuttle sff casing?

Given u requirement of i5 and 5850, I wont suggest to go for smallest possible case, coz it would compromise the cooling performance and resulting unstable system. In general, Shuttle case is like 30% smaller than smallest matx case..
