hmmm while i can accept wit wot spider's saying, one cant also deny tat when one puts up an item for sale & takes orders from da general public then one instantly assumes certain responsibilities.

every product no matter how good or not, has its initial teething problems. the issue isnt to deny or take offense from questions but to satisfactorily answer, alleviate & hopefully solve any consumer anxieties & potential problems as best as possible.

how are consumers to have faith if even basic questions are 'secret'? afterall da markets only sooo 'big' -not a secret btw- in bolehland & frens of frens can only go far, in sales tat is. if one have any inkling of selling internationally then one better be well prepared. there are EE (not of NATOkind) or even just diy hobbyist of enormous talents & knowledge tat'l tear just tear it apart & bare it for da world to see.

of one cant accept this potential exposure then how to market & sell. instead of a 'secret' weakness...turn it into an overt 'revelation' - now tats marketing

Another point I would like to bring up, Bro PCWork only has a hand in the tweaking process of the amp (giving comments and opinions on the sound signature of the amp) and as he has stated in his previous post, he is not the one in charge of designing and the production of the amp. The current version of the amp which he has is just the bare bones one i.e. all the components on a PCB without any casing and etc.

Therefore he wouldn't be at liberty to disclose anything regarding the amp as the amp is the brainchild of walabies, yuheng, several other active members and the technician who came up with the design and implementation in the first place. I believe that questions should be directed to the seller i.e. Reference Audio (Walabies and Yuheng though I think Yuheng is quite busy with his work).

Also would like to point out Walabies/Yuheng has not commented in this thread at which the time the comments started to get heated. Therefore let's just give them time to get home from a hard day's of work and just reply to the comments. It would be unfair to accuse them of anything when in fact they may not be aware of what's brewing in this thread.

I'm sure they will be more than happy to answer the comments and questions to the best of their abilities as I'm sure many of us know both of them personally or have once dealt with them. So we should know that they are very dedicated people and would give the best service possible.

Finally this thread was set up by Bro PCWork and therefore many may have mistaken him for actually selling or involved in the production of the amp and may have flooded him with questions. Walabies's thread selling The Secret Amp is in the bulk section and not in the garage sales section therefore they are not really selling it but more of producing it in batches and are waiting for the minimum 20 units before they proceed. In a way I feel that their special price for the first 20 units is to reward our forumers who have been patiently waiting for the end product. It is also stated that they are offering us with the chance to pre-book it and they are not actually selling it outright.

I remember my conversation with Yuheng once and he did mention that once the finalized units are out they will hold a gathering/audition in a central place for everyone to have a try at the amp and also for Q&As. (Those who are not in KL might not have the chance to attend unfortunately)

And just to avoid misunderstanding, from what I know we do not need to wait for the 20units to be filled ya stormspider. They are waiting for the last parts of the amp to arrive only Once the parts arrived I'm sure those who ordered can get it immediately.

OTOH, I think this amp deserve a proper website and pro quality pics. Perhaps Walabies/Yuheng should get a DSLR and take some sexy photos.

Hopefully the public debut like mentioned above will materialize and folks will be able to catch a glimpse of the amp itself.

Actually, surprisingly, to some extend you don't really need DSLR to take above average pictures. *working as a reviewer taught me some of that*
Just good lighting, locationing and a very good focusing camera will do the trick. *chuckles*

the secret amp with me is without casing.
that's why i have to stick it with some tapes to protect it. and that's why i can't provide the dimention. who knows how big the casing will be?

Added on March 24, 2009, 11:21 pmi have to say. my offer to ppl to come and listen is just considering there's a lot of ppl wanna test. and i don't have much info. best is to come and listen. else talk so much also in the end also ppl still don't know how the sound is. how much do you think i earn? why shall i consider about other buyers? pls do not put me on the responsible to sell the unit. i am doing it and wasting my own time. i have full load of study material to proceed. and yet i am offering ppl to test listen. while i earn RM 0.00 ( NADA) from yuheng and walabies.. i can swear to god if i earn any cents from the sales or shares from the amp. then go ahead and curse me kao kao. damit.
if i am not considering ppl from serdang area. might as well be fair. i withdraw my offer for ppl to listen to it.
go ahead and wait till the amp come out. i had got what i wanted. what for i so godamn busy body offering service to let ppl listen while wasting my time.

BTW, you mentioned you used a more powerful battery for the amp right? What's the spec?? Does it affect the sound??

i don't know what is the spec. i don't remember the spec as it already return to them and i didn't record it or snap photo with it.
it comes in a black pices of wrapping. size like a handphone battery.
with plug. so i unplug the connector from the amp. and plug it with new battery.
if i am not mistaken, it's 3.6V 1200 mah. as compare to stock 3.6V 300mah. and it's a litium polymer compare to the stock is NiMH.

it affect the sound quite much i think. it's much more powerful and well control to me on my ER6i.

WOW, upgrade battery and you got more battery life and better sound!! Definitely going to get it liao!

Size like a handphone battery , wonder if it will fit inside the casing....

maybe i was wrong. but it is almost same size as my motorola razr battery wor. can fit nicely as there's extra space inside.

The new battery is expected to last more than 280 hours based on the specification on IEMs. More than enough I would say, the cost is much heavier and thus, new rates may apply but currently we will just stick to the previous battery.

I personally have tested the amp at PcWork's place for few times, and he is kind enough to share with me his knowledge n experience on hifi.

Well, if he is the so called 'evil businessman' type person, i dont think he will entertain me as im not a potential buyer of his stuffs. Well, he knows im not going to buy the amp anyway, of coz it's due to my budget constraint.

The point is: He is not making any profit from this secret amp project. I can see he have put in lots of time n sweat in this project but mind my word: He is not the designer n he doesn't know the details of the circuit. If anyone is interested on the design, please support this nice MIM product.

This is something we should be proud of, a product made by our ppl here.

Well looking from business view, i would agree to protect the design n keep it secret. There is something called Trade Secret. If u try to ask whats the recipe of making top class wantan mee from the seller, u would only shame urself. The recipe is what makes him differs from others, thats what his values come from.

As far as im concern, i would like to see a healthy atmosphere here. This is a place to share knowledge n joyness. I presume ppl here are music lovers, so we should know there is always Personal Preference. If u like amp A, just go ahead. Shooting amp B wouldn't make ur amp A sounds nicer, it only creates unnecessary argues.

Last word, lets hope this Secret amp will landed in foreign countries soon. Malaysians not only make cars, we make AMP.

Big salute to ppl who have contributing time, efforts n hard-earned penny to make this amp works.
