I would like to point out the fact that the manufacturers has not even finished the amp yet and they are still putting the finishes to the amp. The finished end unit is not even out yet, so far they have only been promoting the pre-ordering of the finished units and those who have signed up are mainly people who have followed the development of the amp and have tried them out and find it to their liking.
They are in no way actually selling their amp or marketing their amp at full scale yet and I believe when they have the finished units they will of course have all the details i.e. components, battery life, dimensions, input/output options and etc to provide to interested parties plus other nitty gritty details regarding the amp. This thread I believe was set up to hype it up and as a future reference point for soon-to-be owners to post their reviews and findings. So I hope that everyone can just hold their horses and not rush into a flaming war or blaming the sellers for the witholding of information. Just my 2 cents... |

Another point I would like to bring up, Bro PCWork only has a hand in the tweaking process of the amp (giving comments and opinions on the sound signature of the amp) and as he has stated in his previous post, he is not the one in charge of designing and the production of the amp. The current version of the amp which he has is just the bare bones one i.e. all the components on a PCB without any casing and etc.
Therefore he wouldn't be at liberty to disclose anything regarding the amp as the amp is the brainchild of walabies, yuheng, several other active members and the technician who came up with the design and implementation in the first place. I believe that questions should be directed to the seller i.e. Reference Audio (Walabies and Yuheng though I think Yuheng is quite busy with his work). Also would like to point out Walabies/Yuheng has not commented in this thread at which the time the comments started to get heated. Therefore let's just give them time to get home from a hard day's of work and just reply to the comments. It would be unfair to accuse them of anything when in fact they may not be aware of what's brewing in this thread. I'm sure they will be more than happy to answer the comments and questions to the best of their abilities as I'm sure many of us know both of them personally or have once dealt with them. So we should know that they are very dedicated people and would give the best service possible. Finally this thread was set up by Bro PCWork and therefore many may have mistaken him for actually selling or involved in the production of the amp and may have flooded him with questions. Walabies's thread selling The Secret Amp is in the bulk section and not in the garage sales section therefore they are not really selling it but more of producing it in batches and are waiting for the minimum 20 units before they proceed. In a way I feel that their special price for the first 20 units is to reward our forumers who have been patiently waiting for the end product. It is also stated that they are offering us with the chance to pre-book it and they are not actually selling it outright. Bro Icyfawkes, I remember my conversation with Yuheng once and he did mention that once the finalized units are out they will hold a gathering/audition in a central place for everyone to have a try at the amp and also for Q&As. (Those who are not in KL might not have the chance to attend unfortunately) |

I would like to attest to PCWork's products and services as he's a perfectionist and really spends time to make sure all his stuff are of the best workmanship and quality. If you ever meet up with PCWork you can always see the passion he has for all his works.. Especially when he transplanted my darth's voice coils.. He made sure to get enough rest and sleep so that his hands are steady enough to solder the fine wire...

Managed to finally get my hands on The Secret Amp after following its progress since the prototype stages.
Here are some eye candy of White Zune 30GB >> Silver Interconnect >> The Secret >> Darth Beyer V3.0 Initial impressions are the amp is able to control the bass slam of my Darth Beyers, making it more refined and not as bloated. The details are also coming out more clearly coupled with the Beyer's original separation and details makes it a good match with the sound signature of the Darth Beyers. I've also tried pairing it with my AKG K171 Studio and it's able to drive it properly and present the details and bring out the bass which many people feel the AKG lacks... As I said just initial impressions, will try and post further after burning it in. Maybe the more experienced audiophilers who have managed to get their hands on their respective amps can post more detailed and helpful reviews... |

Owner of Secret Amp No 004 reporting in...
Sorry I don't think I'm qualified to give reviews but anyone willing to come to Cheras can look me up to give it a test-run... PcWork's PCmod ipods are getting a following I see... I think 4G ipods are now quite rare. If I remember correctly ipod 5.5G can also be modded but then their resale value are still quite high... saw one selling for RM 650 in the WTS thread.. |
