hi..

to answer your number 1 question..

there are two types, one is the 'exchange program', in which you go australia for ONE semester, but paying MALAYSIAN fees.though this is only selected by merit. the other type is, you can transfer whenever you want, how long you want, but paying their fees. as long as you have money, you can transfer as many times as you want.

Hi guys, have a burning desire to ask many questions, since I am a lazy-bum to read through 60 pages, excuse me tongue.gif

1. In Monash, is there a student exchange programme to other campus in Australia? Like the one in Nottingham?
If there is, is it limited and extremely competitive?

2. Engineering question:
In my recent visit to an Australia education fair, the Australia universities are using a different system with those in Malaysia. (I gathered the resources from U.Sydney and U.Melbourne, hence I assume it is the same as Monash). There, they are offering 3 years of Bachelor in Sciences and either 2 years of Master in Engineering OR they invite you for 1 years of honours. In monash sunway, the engineering degree offered is a 4-year courses. Does that means in monash sunway you automatically get a degree in Engineering (honours) if you complete the course?

3. According to above, if a students transfer from monash sunway to Australia, we will be studying under a different system of Australia? Will it still be a 4-year engineering course so as to be accredited by BEM?

4. Is it uncommon for students to transfer from Monash Sunway to Monash in Australia? Will it be hard to cope?
Lets assume that money is not a problem, is it recommended to transfer during my 2nd or 3rd year?
Thanks guys  thumbup.gif

1. Yes

2. I don't know about Uni of Sydney but Uni Melbourne generally uses a different system than the others. Monash's style is the norm, they offer a 4 year BEng that you can enter straight after pre-u and because it is a 4 year degree, there is automatic Honours like UK degrees.

3. Monash Sunway's programme is exactly the same as the one offered in Monash Clayton except the availability of certain electives and majors not available here. Both offer 4 year Degrees that's recognized by BEM.

4. From what I have heard quite a lot transfer to Aussie though there are certain average marks that you need. Since it's the same syllabus and structure the only thing you need to cope with the difference in environment.

Hi guys, I just started studying in Monash Uni (clayton campus) in the 2nd semester, im a first year student doing bachelor of science.

I was wondering if I can apply for credit transfer to Melbourne Uni once I completed my first year in Monash, if that is even possible.

Thanks in advance.

i thought for the number 3 case, Sunway campus curriculum is the same for Berwick, Gippsland, and Peninsula course, as Clayton and Caulfield offer another type of degree.

That's for Business. Monash Clayton offer Bachelor of Commerce while Cauffield and starting this year Peninsula offers Bachelor of Business which both have higher entry requirements to enter than the others and requires year 12 math as a pre-requisite rather than year 11 maths like Sunway and the others which offer Bachelor of Business & Commerce.

In the case of Engineering they offer the same course which is Bachelor of Engineering in both Sunway and Clayton, as far as I know Monash only offers Engineering programmes in Sunway & Clayton and none in any other campus of Monash except for Bachelor of Civil and Environmental Engineering in Gippsland . There's also a lot of other types of Engineering degres available in Clayton that's not available in any other Monash Campus like Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering,Bachelor of Computer Systems Engineering, Bachelor of Environmental Engineering, Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering and Bachelor of Software Engineering.

1. yes, there's exchange not only to their own campus but other universities as well, try MIT ^^ and dont forget, u r paying monash msia fees.. hehehee and there's another which is transfer

2. for engineering 4 years... comes with honours if results is good enough, for science, business, etc etc.. it is 3 years + 1 year hons

3. same system, a little diff in the subjects. as for engineering, yes... same

4. there are students transfer and those that stay... typically around 20% transfers... for engineering, 3rd year will do

Okay, I guess I'll be staying at Sun-U Apartments then. Does anyone know the exact directions from Monash to the apartments? Can i get there through the Sunway shuttle buses?

Last time I went to Monash, I saw that the bus stopped outside Sun-U Residences, but what about the apartments? Are they within a few minutes' walk from the bus stop?

Thanks.

I used to study in Sunway College back in 2001-2004 when Sunway college and Monash are still in the same building. Now that Monash has got its own building, how far is it from Sunway College? I know theres a free shuttle bus from Sunway Pyramid to Sunway College but does it also go to Monash?

about 10 minutes walk if you are a brisk walker(if you wanna count from the guard house and not the main block)

yes it goes to monash as well but it makes a big turn to pyramid and lagoon first before turning back.

Monash is basically across the street from Sunway University. It'll take you 10-15 minutes to walk from the entrance of Sunway to Monash. From pyramid the bus would pass by Monash first before it arrives at Sun U.

not sure you would have to check with Monash and whether their syllabus match and all.

Hi, i recently applied for monash uni's bachelor of commerce programme, but got rejected as my previous melb u bachelor of engineering results werent up to par. i submitted them as according to the girl at the recruitment office, it wouldnt be a problem as my a levels results passed the minimum requirements.

i appealed and it got rejected as well. a little disheartened at this point as i was looking to get a fresh start in a new course, something that im sure i can do better in.

any advice as to whats the next best course of action? would trying to meet them in person help? and who should i be meeting if so?

I included my a levels results as well, but apparently yet looked only at my unimelb results, appealed and asked them to look at my a levels results instead, but got rejected.

I've gotten into taylors, instant entry, got the offer letter on the spot =.=

but yeah, my heart was set on monash.
