Hi everyone. Have a question here. Is there any chance entering monash pharmacy with SAM score of 85? The requirement stated is 90. If I appeal, would it normally be successful? Thanks.
*
that's far under the minimum requirements ^^" I don't think your appeal will be successful, maybe if a bit lower it's possible if they want more students to fill in places but ATAR 90 and ATAR 85 is too far apart in my opinion for this case

Just wonder is it possible to transfer for only one and half year? or it must be minimum 2 years? Has anyone done this before? mind to give me some advices on that?

It is possible to do so. There is no minimum number of years that you need to transfer for.

The process is pretty straight forward, you first apply to transfer to the Caulfield campus, and then after that you apply again for a transfer back to the Sunway campus.

However, I would advise that you first inform the people who will be handling your transfer about your decision and ask them the process to do it. If you think that they are not clear enough, I would advise that you call up the Caulfield campus themselves and ask. It is a lot clearer.

Good Luck! biggrin.gif

Thanks for your reply. but, what I mean is I want transfer to Caulfield at my last one and half year and graduate there. Be precise,I want transfer after my year 2 sem 1,or in other words transfer and continue my last 3 sems there.
Is this possible?
This is because if can save half year time, then it would really save a lot of money for my parents. =D
Yea,I suppose I will try to contact Caulfield if I cant find any clear answer in the website. =p

Hey, I'd like to ask....

I submitted my appeal (for a very special case) to Monash. Today the PSO(prospective students office) sent me a reject letter. They just told me my application wasn't successful. Usually, appeal replies are sent by the PSO or the school itself? The letter says nothing about my appeal.

I've mailed them already. I think the student centre is largely responsible for why i have to appeal now.

Hey guys, I need your advice on this.

Back in June, I went with my SPM results and A levels forecast and met their enrolment officer there. I wasn't too sure about what they wanted, so my parents thought bringing my transcripts over for personal scrutiny would clarfiy things up.

So I went and met one of their officers there, and upon reviewing my results she said I was eligible for the course (Business and Commerce if you're interested to know). However they school would need my actual A lvls results and not the forecast but in the mean time, I can submit a scholarship application and then submit my actual results when it came out later. My forecast said I was expected to get 3As. I took 3 subjects only, namely Business Studies, Economics and English Literature.

So I did what the girl told me, prepared my scholarship application + testimonials and references from lecturers . I went back there only to be met by another enrolment officer saying that it was impossible for the University to accept my scholarship application without applying at the uni first. She said I could come back in December to apply when I had my actual results. Feeling very confused, I did as I was told.

Then came December.

I gotten my A lvls results already by that time. I got A* for Business Studies, A* for English Literature and A for Economics. I went back there to apply and while they said I was eligible for the scholarship, I was ineligble for the course!!!! WTF!!!!!!!

They said one of the course prerequisites is Add math, which I didn't take in form 5. A temporary staff probably attended to me back then, so there was clearly some misinformation, and to top it off, it is assumed that all malaysian students take add math. (Not for arts students what...)

I can't apply for Nottingham already; their business intake was in September, which mostly meant that I would have to wait another year. UK universities do not require add math. The student centre just wasted 6 months of my life.

I've sent my appeal to Monash, reiterating the incident that happened at the student centre and that my parents were with me at that time, about how I can't apply for Nottingham anymore, about why I didn't take add math in f5 ( I wanted to be a journalist) and tried to convince them that my math was up to par since I got A* for Business Studies and that subject in A levels is equivalent to a first year degree. My cousin studies at Monash and is in her second year, majoring in Business Statistics and Ecnonometrics. She says no add math is needed. I also suggested to Monash that I will take any pre-u, MUFY or sunway matriculation mth subject to compensate during the course of my degree. I am very sure it will only take 3 months or so ( but I didn't tell them about the duration). I also included 2 references from my lecturers. I even sent them my course strcuture and syllabus excerpts.

Today they sent me a letter via email saying my application was rejected and that they've academically reviewed my transcripts. But they made no mention of my appeal.

The enrolment officer said I could go to Victoria University in Sunway and rnasfer here in my second year. Most students that didn't meet the requirements do so to study here since VU is less strict with their pre reqs. As expected, VU doesn't require add math, but their alvls requirement is higher. They said they'd give me 50% scholarship too and that if I had applied earlier I would've gotten 75%. T.T

I can transfer to Monash on the 2nd year, provided that Monash doesn't look back on my add math. The sunway counsellor told me to get a black and white letter from Monash stating such so I won't meet the same mishap again.

My question is, what is your advice for me? I can't apply for Nottingham anymore. How about Victoria and Lancaster univeristy? How do they fare? Are there other alternatives for me? I can't go too far because of my health. I feel its really unfair for me......What do you think I should do at this point? I really need some comfort right now D: Besides their reject letter just says that they've reviewed my transcripts and they rejected me. They make no mention of my appeal. My dad has lost all his good impression of Monash already even though he's form the uni. My cousin says the system sucks because she met a similar hiccup in her enrolmet process. They tend to tell you half and dont tell you the other half.

Please reply as soon as possible. Thanks.

oh my. you qualify for the scholarship but not the course?! what BS is this? doh.gif shocking.gif

first and foremost who did you apply your course with?

my experience with the marketing people there were not that good either. while i was applying for my pharmacy course and requested for a campus tour, that idiot blatantly told me he did not walk into the medical building before. doh.gif

and again, have you directly called the person in charge and ask him/her about your appeal? its better than contacting them with email you know. hmm.gif

The enrolment officers always seems to be problematic when dealing with queries from propective students. I have dealt with them and I always confirm again by calling over the phone and speaking to a different officer. You need this to reassure that what was told is correct.

Anyway, while waiting for your appeal, I reckon that you go to Sunway and make your enquires. Lancaster is also one of the better twinning universities around and if you are taking business/finance/accounting, Sunway's twinning programmes graduates are very well sought by prospective employers.

They told me that while I was not eligible for the course I can send in my applicaiton with my appeal. I'm not sure the reject letter was referring to my appeal or application. It makes no mention of my appeal. I've mailed them to check.

The first enrolment officer I met had big eyes and fair skin. LoL

I've mailed both the PSO and enrolment officer a few hours ago.

I've been there 7-8 times, 2 times to Sunway. I'll probably go again tomorrow and throw a mad fit at them. If all else fails I'll jump down the enrolment building and bring some publicity to the uni. Hahahahah just joking!

+1

As you can see, the officers in the Sunway campus are not very helpful or reliable in their answers.

Personally, I would go straight to the admissions office and demand for an explanation. Ask them for the reason for the rejection. Print a copy of your emails (appeal etc) and present it to them. Don't leave until you get a satisfactory answer.

Also, it would be good if you are able to point out the person who gave you the information in the first place. If you have anything that can confirm what he/she said (brochures with their explanations on it etc) bring it along as well.

I sent hard copies of my appeal+ application+ course strucutre+ syllabus and all related documents amounting to more than two hundred pages XDDDD

But I will see them tomorrow... for sure. By the way I forgot to tell you guys that for this intake they've decided to change the tedious scholarship procedure to an immediate awarding of fee subsidy based on results, though the lower in value compared to last time.

mad.gif cry.gif mad.gif cry.gif

I think I'll need more suggestions bout my alternatives....but I'm not sure which to choose.

I still think the student centre and the university as whole should be partly responsible for my predicament. Are they really that stubborn on the whole Australian Year 11 equivalent math prerequisite?
