the machine is not cheap and I mean NOT CHEAP

Money is one thing, owning 1 is one thing, where to get 1 is another thing and maintenance WILL also be another thing. So think twice first

Why get a SF4 machine? You could get a bigger HDTV with PS3 set up complete with 2 full Sanwa arcade sticks for less than an SF4 machine.

Anyway, the difference between Sanwa and Seimitsu is that Sanwa buttons are softer, Seimitsu is _slightly_ harder. Arcade vets can definitely feel the difference. An arcade operator has mentioned that Seimitsu seems to last longer than Sanwa buttons though.

And oh, I hardly go to the Bugis arcade...if you guys come down, then only go over there and meet you guys there.

Exactly....plus online play, free play, bigger screens (optional), servicable arcade sticks, better sound systems. No need for cards for data saving, as the HDD is there for you (console) XD

Maintenance wise, just hope your BD/DVD don't crack/machine 3ROD/YLOD tongue.gif

lol i dont think you're able to use the card system if you bought the machines since its japan exclusive. (lol 2nd time in an hour i said this)

anyway yeah, console is definitely much better because of the reasons stated above.

personally, i still love arcade more especially if its an active scene with many good players. but arcade is dead in malaysia sad.gif. (ive looked)

I like arcades because it's more social, you get to gather.

Console gatherings are fine too, but the difference is, with an arcade, I can drop by anytime and meet anyone you know? smile.gif

Still, thank god for the like half dozen or so players playing MvC2 in MidValley. I'd not go to an arcade otherwise.

u guys...me asking doesn't necessarily i want to buy.....

BUT if it's not too expensive (nobody ever quote a price here, if anybody know), and MAYBE if i have extra dough, then why not...

i will have 1 extra room in my new house. was thinking of having an arcade machine (SF4 should be the one if i would buy one), snooker/pool table, foosball table, and if possible a children slide like they have in mcdonald for my kid.

damn hard to do special moves (the likes of shoryuken & shinryuken), not to mention to do combo (trial mode normal stuck at trial 3)...

i can do better using sixaxis/ds3...

any tips using fightsticks? or i just need more time to practise...

Just hardcore practice. Don't go back to the joypad. I also delevel a few times when I first got my stick. But after a few days, I got back into the groove and got used to the stick.

Practice schedule helps: -

facing right
fireball. Repeat x10
tatsu. Repeat x10
shoryuken. Repeat x10
super. Repeat x10

then do the same while facing left.

gg with Phyurix and keen last night!

Q: which character is strong against sagat? (say both have same level of skill)
A: Sagat has no bad match. At most just 50/50, e.g. Sim & Viper

Checkout my sig, if you have sigs disabled I'm selling my last one for RM800. It's for the PS3, available at hand, and a virgin - untouched for the very first time wink.gif

ahtung79: congrats on your HRAP3. The joystick gate is square and maybe you need to get used to it? The diagonal corners really help when doing dragon punch moves, works well when playing charge characters, and overall very good to 'lock' towards that direction you want e.g. jumping up or jumping forward. I tried octagonal gate sticks before and sometimes I will accidentally jump the wrong direction if my stick is not straight on the table. If you can't perform fireball motions well then I guess you're grinding too hard against the sides? I prefer square over octagonal.

I think an authentic Taito Viewlix SF4 cabinet costs US15,000 to 20,000. If I am not mistaken you need a commercial arcade operator license (not cheap) to bring it in, as with anything with a coin-slot as it will be categorized as amusement/gaming equiptment meant for profit. Even if you declare it for personal use you have to go through all the Kastam/Sirim/KDN paperwork and dunno-what-else 'fees' to get it in - not worth the trouble and money.

As mentioned by others, the console version is much better. The arcade has lesser characters and what if SF4 Dash (Champion Edition) comes out? And for a cheaper deal you can get a souped-up setup with x2 Mad Catz TE sticks, the new LED TVs, and sound system with spare change to add. You can always commission a carpenter to fit it all in a custom cabinet and all that jazz.

boogalogist: i tried adding you but your psn friend list is full... just like poongko's (efzzang) smile.gif
