QUOTE(icebrew @ Jun 18 2009, 12:32 PM) For Celcom users to enable your tethering. Use at your own risk, I have tried it, if you do not like it or does not work you can remove it Install << THIS >>. Make sure you open this link on your iphone. It will ask you to install this Profile, there is a warning about the authenticity of this program, just hit Install Now, once it is done, hit the Done button. Go to settings->general->network->cellular data network and remove the celcom3g on both Cellular Data and Visual Voicemail APN settings. They should be left blank. Hit the network to go back. Now you can turn on the Internet Tethering option. If you want to remove this profile, just hit General and scroll down to the Profile, click on Enable Tethering on Celcom 3g and you can see the a red remove button icon. Icebrew... so this can be done on a virgin iphone or do i have to jb?

QUOTE(raoul @ Jun 18 2009, 11:52 AM) It's kind of pointless to have the oleophobic coating on the new 3GS when the owner will most probaly protect it with screen protector. The question is whether screen protectors or skin shields would stick to an oleophobic coating. QUOTE(matkoi @ Jun 18 2009, 12:38 PM) Sorry mine was Maxis 5.0. the 3.0 is the iphone firmware version.I've read it wrongly. My mms works fine. But I don't have the tethering option to turn on. I updated mine this afternoon and everything seems to work right now. I checked the carrier details and I am on Maxis 4.0 with tethering available. Before this, its Maxis 3.1. I haven't tested though. But why is there a Maxis 5.0? Now I am afraid to plug in back to iTunes. Later Maxis force me to update to 5.0 and cut off the tethering. -------------------- Also! I'm not sure if this is placebo effect or whatever, my yellowish tint seems to have gone or better. Peeps, kindly verify? This post has been edited by davidmak: Jun 18 2009, 01:00 PM

Yes I also used the custom carrier logo with the ipcc posted here. Maybe that's how I got Maxis 5.0. Anyhow I'm restoring my iphone to factory default setting right and will try to upgrade again.

I hit yes, but no change in carrier information. Still Maxis 3.1. I thought maybe when I restored the phone, it has no localization and carrier and it had to download it. But why Maxis 5.0 before Maxis 4.0?

Wow, just checked my phone and my carrier is Maxis 3.1? See any potential problems with this and how to upgrade it to 5.0 before upgrading the OS?

Thats weird. OK, your restoration is done over iTunes (I assume you mean this) or just a reset on the iPhone? If it is done via iTunes, I wonder why this is happening. Shouldn't it all be consistent? Unless you're not on iValue Plan or one of those iPhone plans.

QUOTE(sHin0bi @ Jun 18 2009, 12:49 PM) Icebrew... so this can be done on a virgin iphone or do i have to jb? Jailbreak what JB? arent we are on OS 3.0 topic, unless JB is out and I am unaware of it. I have not sucessfully gotten it to tether with my pc yet, will try it later with my mac but I can see the Internet Tethering option available like when I inserted the Maxis sim but that disappear shortly. Again we are experimenting with profiles which i believe as I think Celcom is probably an unsupported carrier which tethering is probably disable. Good luck.

Well my main concern is to get the tethering option on my iphone which I don't have right now. Since I already restored my carrier to 4.0.
