As if we've sold him off !! and i miss him immensely, and hes what differentiates a good season and a great season ! His contributions last season were remarkable to say the least, and we honest to god cudve used the bugger to cover the crap of a capt of liverpool. if united were to buy anyone in the summer, we desperately need a holding midfielder. QUOTE Blog: Players share your pain MUTV commentator Stewart Gardner reflects on a bad day on the gantry... If there’s any justice, Nemanja Vidic will win the Footballer of the Year award. He has truly been a rock at the heart of United’s record-breaking defence. He’s played more games than anyone else this season and has also chipped in with seven goals – including crucial strikes against Sunderland and Inter. It's a terrible shame for him that the one game in which he makes a couple of mistakes is against our bitterest rivals. It won’t overshadow his contribution to our season though. I know that United fans left Old Trafford feeling pretty sick on Saturday and sometimes supporters wonder if the players feel as bad as they do. Well, I saw Nemanja in the tunnel after the game – head down, face like thunder, not making eye contact with anyone. He was hurting badly. I interviewed Rio Ferdinand – he was a picture of dejection. Most players couldn’t leave quickly enough - make no mistake, they care as much as you do. In the time it took me to get down from the television gantry and up the tunnel after the final whistle, eight people had come up to me and said “Good luck, I wouldn’t want to be in your shoes!” Why did they wish me luck? Because I had to interview the boss in the wake of a humbling defeat. People expect him to be spitting fire but – as ever after a shock result – he was measured, thoughtful and calm. Immediately he was focused on how United will respond to this setback. If there's a set of shoes I wouldn’t want to be in, they belong to the Fulham players next Saturday. What a backlash they could face. It’s just a shame the game isn’t on Tuesday or Wednesday because a week is an awful long time to wait to get that defeat out of the system. If you’re unfortunate enough to work with a Liverpool fan, then you’re going to have to face the music today! I know my son is dreading the stick he’s going to get at school. Just keep at the forefront of your mind the position in the Premier League: a four-point lead with a game in hand. That position didn’t seem possible when we returned from Japan seven points behind Liverpool. When United lift an 18th championship trophy in May, Saturday’s defeat will just be a footnote. And who knows, when the Champions League draw is made this Friday, we might get an early chance for revenge... Source: ManUtd.com This post has been edited by aboogee: Mar 16 2009, 10:39 PM |

hmm, looking ahead, do you guys think we need to sign anyone else to strengthen the squad over the summer? For me, i think 1 holding midfielder would be enough,we've got plenty of youngsters for the other positions

QUOTE(DaGlue @ Mar 16 2009, 07:04 PM) Honestly, I am disappointed with the team performance against our fierce rival. This is the worst United result I ever seen. I would rather see Derby defeat United > Liverpool defeat United. Damn! SAF put the wrong player in the line-up against Liverpool. Anderson and Carrick partnership failed miserably on that day. Why not Scholes and Carrick? As for Tevez and Rooney, speechless on that day. Why not Rooney and Berbatov? Vidic, even more speechless on that day. Is the worst nightmare I ever had in my entire life. In my mind now is revenge revenge revenge!!! ur comment seems on picking someone in the team to blame...it's not SAF fault, or anderson or tevez..it is the whole team's fault..and tactically wise, credit to liverpool..Added on March 16, 2009, 11:04 pm QUOTE(Tak3shi @ Mar 16 2009, 07:20 PM) Anderson and Carrick were in the lineup to contain the midfield threat of Gerrard and Co in hopes of cutting the supply line to Torres. Unfortunately both of them didn't live up to expectations, that's why keane is so sorely missed, he would have kept Gerrard in check. We really need a really good defensive midfielder to keep people like Gerrard, Kaka, etc in place or they will run havoc. hmm... well, whenever our team is not doing well, we ought to find some holes to point at eh?for me, the squad is good, i should say damn good..juz that the match against liverpool is our off day...Speaking about RVN, well, our attacking and goal scoring responsibilities have been spread to strikers, midfield and defenders too! it's not like last time when we only depends on RVN for goals...and, as you can see this recipe hd brought us far last season, winning double and endding chelsea dominance... so i keep faith with this team and SAF....and yeah, talking about leader, ryan giggs has the leadership qualities,,a silent leader indeed.Scholes wouldn't have been able to do a thing to stop Gerrard. We essentially still have 2 problems, a striker who can score goals regularly (RVN) and a really good leader / Defensive midfielder like Roy Keane. Something like Makelele/Gattuso/etc. Tevez, Rooney and Berbatov have not come up with the goods on a regular basis. This post has been edited by Shin1022: Mar 16 2009, 11:06 PM |

come on ler....1 lost after so many games and some of you are talking abt how we lack of RVN and keane? the BPL is won after playing 38 games....
i'll pick the current team we have over any other team in the world. what we have is depth in the squad and not relying on just 1 or 2 players. |

i have been reading many liverpool forums oversea and this forum lately and i conclude hereof that just this 1 win at old trafford , liverpool fans tend to think and believe like they have won the biggest prize in football already
this victory over united must have cause the biggest reaction from liverpool fans all over the world in history oh goodness , i feel great because they really acted and treated and that beating man utd alone in 1 game is like capturing a major trophy . i guess they must have been very very envious and jealous of our recent successes and more so now as this season ,we are going for 4 or 5 trophies for football sake , its good to know the rivalry between england 2 most successful and famous club remain bitter and intense now more than ever for man utd fans , please take note we remain firm favourites to retain the BPL title and one lost battle doesn't mean we lose the war. although we lost last saturday , the way the lads play , i still feel the team haven't lost the enthusiasm and spirit to get back to the game and only when vidic is dismissed and after the 3rd goal conceded we lost the will to get back to the game which isn't a bad thing because the players realize we could still afford to lose that match. i trust no doubt this utd squad with enough experience will rally back very soon cheers This post has been edited by sunnyK: Mar 17 2009, 09:45 AM |

Yup, it's indeed funny. Wanted to keep it inside but feel perhaps I should let it out some of my thoughts. Just a couple weeks ago, I happen to read (i seldom go to other club's thread) some of the Liv fans are already giving up on the title and even supporting Che to chase us all the way since they think they can't as they just hated our club so much when they are actually same point as them.
Now 1 victory against Man Utd amid a big one, some of the fans (not saying all) is already talking about their title pursuit when they are the one that conceded before this. I always do think the title will not be decided until the fat lady sings, football is indeed unpredictable. Last season everyone was talking about Barca being champion when they were having a healthy lead at one time and see what happen. Man Utd also suffered some as well : eg against Arsenal. But what I don't understand is this so called best fans in the world would be supporting Che when they are still mathematically possible for them to go all the way. And now they donned their Liverpool jersey singing YNWA. How ironic, and they calling us the lalang. Which makes me wonder, whether some of this "Livepool fans" is actually a fan of the team or just another ABU brigade. PS : this opinion is entitled to some of the fans only, not saying all and definitely not to those in house residence, Kat and Duke. |
