QUOTE(MyDevil @ Mar 29 2009, 10:10 AM)
Why didn't Rio start for England? Is he injured?
*
IIRC, the commentators mentioned something about his back injury sweat.gif unsure.gif

Edit: Its indeed a groin injury as said by plokoon:

QUOTE
"At the moment we don't know," said the Italian, who said Rio Ferdinand should be available for Wednesday's game.

The defender missed the win over Slovakia because of a groin injury but scans have revealed no major damage.

Neville facing uncertain future

QUOTE
Gary Neville admits he is yet to decide what to do with himself when he calls time on his playing career.

The Manchester United stalwart accepts that at 34-years-old his days at the pinnacle of the game are numbered.

He has struggled with injuries in recent years and has seen the likes of Rafael da Silva emerge from his shadow at Old Trafford.

Having spent the last 17 years pushing himself to the limit with both United and England, Neville has revealed that he may walk away from football when he hangs up his boots.

He is currently studying for his coaching badges, but accepts that he may be forced to head in a different direction should no job offers be forthcoming.

Challenge

"Part of me says I'd like to stay involved in the game, but another says I should do something else," Neville told the Big Issue in the North.

"It would be nice to be able to take on a different challenge. I'd like to think I could do something else other than football, but the reality is that's what I've done since I was 16.

"I am doing my coaching badges, but whether anyone will want me as a coach or a manager I don't know.

"I don't know, even now so close to the end of my career, what will happen. But leaving Manchester United, in football terms, is like falling off the end of a cliff.

"I just hope there's something that I find exciting and can enjoy, and in which I retain the ambition to achieve something."

we better convince him that he will be EVDS successor.. he is good gk indeed.. big potential..

as for rooney scored 2 goals agains slovakia, i love to see him start scoring and i hope that he will score against porto fc..

for villa game, let hope tevez will be in his mood.. but somehow, Berba-Vez combination still cannot give much.

better ferguson placed foster as man u 1st Gk than van der sar..because foster has a bright future(long term) instead of losing foster to other club....van der sar is good also but only in short term..

this international break is getting too boring . cant wait for the real thing which is the BPL to resume.

watch some old seasons review . it's scandalous and can't really understand why giggs have not won the players of the year award before. giggs is just superb. better than CR7. 18 years on and he's still playing well and this time in central midfield role. what a career at united. absolutely unbelievable.

the most decorated player in the history of the game playing at high level year in year out and yet with humility intact

no surprise , SAF call for the bachelor of knighthood for giggs as i would do the same

i hope in the year 2011 , the queen of england bestow the knighthood on Ryan Joseph Giggs known simply as Sir Ryan Giggs

among other things , upon his retirement , i hope giggs would have won 12 BPL titles , 4 champions league and one player of the year award.that would be nice

I don't think Mourinho would be a good choice. As the article said, he's commitment to attacking football is questionable. Along those lines, I wouldn't pick Ancelotti, Lippi or Capello. Bruce, Keane and Hughes haven't proven themselves yet and there's a danger of them imploding like Wilf McGuinness. I don't know about Moyes, he's not really won much with Everton. O'Neill or Queiroz gets my vote. Or any other manager that plays attacking football and prioritizes youth development.

maybe he'll go out on loan for another season. Either that or rotate playing in matches with EVDS. Kuzczak may leave in this case though.

@eXyzt
If you're talking about attacking football and youth developments how about Frank Rijkaard. Among the lots he's the most suitable imho.

@moomoojojo
I think its better to keep Van Der Sar as first choice cos he's got the experience in everything and he know's how to command the defence. I cant really see Foster commanding Rio or Vida at this point cos of the age gap, note that football is not only a physical game its also psychological.

@sunnyK
I agree, Giggs deserves it. He has achieved so many yet awarded so little. He has done so many that most football players cant do. Loyalty, passion and patience. Unlike Robinho. Read his biography, you'll get a good laugh.
That picture is too obvious to any Manchester United fans, any Manchester United fans who doesnt recognize any of them doesnt deserve to be.

agree with u StygianInDepth but foster seems want to leave man u if he dun get into 1st 11...seems hard for him to become england 1st choice if he's always n man u bench...hard to find long term future now..but he's the 1...got prospect n treasure for man u team..huhu
