Reds to play in Audi CupQUOTE Four of the best teams on the planet – including world champions Manchester United – will take part in the Audi Cup in Germany this summer.
The two-day competition, held at Munich’s Allianz Arena, will feature United, Boca Juniors, AC Milan and Bayern Munich.
The Reds will meet Boca – Carlos Tevez’s former club and 23-times champions of Argentina – on Wednesday 29 July, with Milan and Bayern also competing on the same day. The winners of each game will play each other on Thursday 30 July in the final, which will be preceded by a third-place playoff featuring Wednesday’s losing sides.
At the tournament launch in Munich, attended by representatives from each side (including United defender Wes Brown), Audi chairman Rupert Stadler described the event as “a sporting highlight on the brand’s 100th anniversary”.
“We are proud that we have been able to attract these teams to Munich,” Stadler said.
Meanwhile, former Boca Juniors legend and current managing director Carlos Bianchi said the Argentinians were looking forward to pitting their wits against some of Europe’s finest footballers.
“It is both an honour and a big challenge for our team to compete against these sides,” he said. http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid=...&newsid=6629466

If Becks does play against Man Utd, I'm sure it would be an emotional moment for him. Heck. Even for the fans.

Fletcher - Talk is cheapQUOTE Darren Fletcher believes Manchester United's players will be 'desperate' to prove their recent setbacks are only a blip upon the return from international duty.
United's lead at the top of the Premier League table has been whittled down to just one point following back-to-back defeats by Liverpool and Fulham.
The reigning champions still have a game in hand over their title rivals, but Fletcher is disappointed there is not an immediate chance to respond to the successive losses.
The international break means United must wait until Sunday 5th April before their next game against Aston Villa, with Fletcher currently preparing for Scotland's World Cup qualifiers against Holland and Iceland.
Fletcher admits it is easy to talk about bouncing back to form, but wants the United players to prove their intentions on the pitch.
Easy to talk
"We would have liked another game straight away to respond to a couple of difficult games, which are hopefully just a setback," said Fletcher on Sky Sports News.
"It's easy to talk about it, but you've got to go out on to the pitch and prove it is only a setback.
"We would have been desperate for another league game, but unfortunately the internationals have come about.
"Liverpool would have been wanting the league to continue really and not wanting the international break, so you never know, it might be something that we just have to deal with.
"I'm sure we'll be back to winning ways, we've got to be."
He added: "It's easy for me to say it's only a blip, but we've got to go out on to the park and show it's only a blip.
"I think it's easy talking about it, it's hard to go and do it. We'll all be desperate to go out and show when we get back that it is only a blip.
"As I say, it's easier talking than it is to go and produce results." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_5098931,00.htmlEvra - Utd blip an accidentQUOTE Patrice Evra has described Manchester United's recent stumble in the Premier League as 'a little accident'.
United's bid for a hat-trick of titles has been checked by back-to-back defeats by closest rivals Liverpool and away at Fulham.
The defeats have seen United's lead at the summit reduced to one point, although the reigning champions do still have a game in hand.
The international break means the Red Devils do not play again in the Premier League until Sunday 5th April when Aston Villa come to Old Trafford, live on Sky Sports 1 & HD1.
Evra is currently away with the France squad and the full-back admits his immediate focus is on the 2010 World Cup double-header with Lithuania.
France focus
However, Evra acknowledged that the recent blip at club level has proven to be an unusual occurrence.
"In three years, it is the very first time that I have experienced two defeats in a row," Evra told L'Equipe.
"I am sure it is just a little accident.
"Anyway, I have to forget about the club now. I will think about Manchester again after the two matches against Lithuania." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_5098784,00.htmlThis post has been edited by alien2003: Mar 25 2009, 09:55 PM
