[QUOTE]Since nobody answer you..you already have your machine in mind and you can have the reference of the laptop from you bro's machine. I not really into AMD processor so i will suggest you for Acer 4730ZG. This laptop have better processor and it offers you 3 years warranty and its on rm2299 which kinda cheap. It came with Vista Home Premium and in my opinion, you no need Vista Ultimate for movie and light gaming.

For the difference between AMD and Intel platform, just say Intel gave better performance and my impression on AMD is that their platform tend to have heat issue but Intel is no where better. Google it please, i bet there is alot of article on the difference between AMD and Intel processor.

just wanna know whether the spec above, is it suitable for some light gaming, photo editing and some rendering stuff? or is there any other laptops that is suitable for my needs?

I'm in for any brand except acer, had bad experience with their laptops. i'll also prefer to have ati's gpu, as i've read a lot of issues regarding nvidia's gpu.

Brand : Anything but ACER
Budget : At most RM 2500
Spec : Good battery life (2+ hours), at least 150GB hard disk and at least 1.5GB RAM
Screen : 14-15 inches (not too big and not too small)

Extra information about the laptop :
Most of the time, I will be using it for programming purposes, surfing the Internet, managing documents, editing images using Photoshop, and sometimes playing decent games at the lowest graphics settings (FIFA 09 for example, since I play it a lot). As I have mentioned, battery life is crucial to me because I always carry my laptop around, and having my laptop out of battery is annoying (my current laptop lasts for only 1 hour). Plus, large hard disk capacity is important since I will be installing 2 operating systems (Windows XP + Ubuntu).I don't want pre-installed Windows, since I already have an original copy of Windows XP Media Edition.

If your budget is less than 5k, i would suggest you to go for BenQ s57. With 4k you get a nice GPU, a bluray rom and a nice processor. The spec, you can find it in the BenQ website or a show off thread at Mobile Computing, there is a guy showing off his S57. P8700 and HD4650 is decent enough to support your need.

Correct me if im wrong but i dont think there is any P6400 around, as far as i concern, it is T6400.
For suggestion, go for Dell Studio XPS. It worth better than Sony. The processor and GPU is better than Sony, you just need to add few hundred bucks for it.

For a rm2.5k laptop to play game such as Fifa09 is quite demanding. The only machine that pop out is Acer and Compaq. Cq40 have HD3200 on board but i doubt it can handle the Fifa 09. You want freedos, Acer, Compaq and Asus offering freedos as well, but not all of their series came with freedos. You have low budget with a lot of requirement, kinda hard to suggest one specific model for you.

Dell Studio 15. I assume the spec you have for Studio 14 is rm2999? I would suggest you to add couple of hundred for Studio 15 because you get better processor and GPU.

Studio 15. The rm2599 spec, but i doubt you can get this spec in pc fair. Check Dell website for the spec, it quite worth the price. It suitable for multitasking due to its P8600 powered processor.

I think it can handle FIFA 09 at minimum graphics setting. Currently, I'm using Acer Aspire 5570 with Intel Core Duo T2250 1.73 GHz, 1.5 GB RAM and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 (I think), and I have played FIFA 09, FIFA 08, EURO 08 and FIFA 07. They lagged a bit, but I got used to it over time. And currently, the market price for this laptop is RM 1250. So I think RM 2500 laptop can handle FIFA 09 (or maybe I'm wrong).

I did my research on HP Compaq Presario CQ40 series that you've mentioned, and found this useful thread: Compaq Presario CQ40. CQ40-125AX and CQ40-133AX look interesting. Are they both the same price (RM 2099)? If so, then it would be obvious that the latter is better, since it has a better processor (I may be wrong, since I don't know much about processors) and a bigger hard disk (+70 GB). CQ40-115AU is relatively cheaper than the two above (RM 1899), but it has smaller hard disk (160 GB), no bluetooth, and the graphics card is ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics (the two above have ATI Radeon HD 3450 Graphics with 256 MB dedicated memory). I couldn't find the battery specifications for these laptops though.

1. Brand- Any brand really thats reknowned. (why do so many people hate Acer?)
2.Looking for around 250GB space minimum
3. Minimum 2GB RAM
4. Preferable processer- core 2 duo
5. Looking for a graphics card that can play FIFA 09? (can an ATI Radeon 256mb handle that?)
6. 14-15" screen's fine
7. Budget is 3k

EDIT: Found a beautiful Studio 15 Dell laptop customizable.
Just wondering, will an 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 GC be able to play FIFA 09 well?

Studio 15 is a good choice mate but have u considered BenQ S42?It has a 9600M GT GC which is faster than the 4570.A letdown would be that its only 14".

About the 4570 being able to play well really depends on the resolution and the settings.U might wanna google benchmarks of the 4570 for that particular game. And i dunno whether FIFA 2009 is that demanding anyway.

If you wanna install Windows XP why buy Compaq? sweat.gif
CQ40-401AX FreeDOS, AMD Turion X2 2.2GHz, ATI HD 3450 512MB RM2049
But don't expect 2hours+ battery life from it, you'd be lucky to get 1hours+ from it. doh.gif
For your budget and gaming purpose impossible to get 2hours battery life.

But if I don't play games while I'm using it on battery (not charging), will it last for 2 hours? Because usually, I don't do that, because obviously, my battery will die quickly > < I'm not buying the laptop for gaming purpose. I know it's impossible to get a gaming laptop with that budget sweat.gif. I won't be playing games much, maybe 3 times a week.

Eh I apologize for the mistake. Here's the proper format

Brand - Anything (No Acer please).
Budget - < RM3000
Specs - Doesnt have to be high spec. Just need to do some simple office work but hard disk needs to be big. There will be A LOT of work/files. Preferably with 3G capabilities. Also Windows XP/Vista. No linux please. Lightweight is mandatory.
Size - <10"
