a look at the CQ40 thread and, no, it really depends on how u use...

for sure the OEMs would test thoroughly before releasing it to the market...

Dear all,

I need some recomendation to get my first laptop. The following are my several criterias.

Most important criteria:
1. Prefer less than 2kg, including battery (not so prefer but can also consider up to 2.5kg)
2. Updated and fast processor, such as Intel Core 2 duo (don't want AMD, atom or something similar)
3. Laptop, not netbook.

Brand: Preference for Dell, HP (not HPcompaq), Fujitsu and Toshiba as these few are mostly recomended. Whereas, acer, asus and HPcompaq are not recomended.

Budget: RM2.5K to 4K (preferably around RM3k). Therefore i cannot afford any iMac. If any Sony can meet all my objectives, but below RM4k do list it out also.

Size: 12inch to 15inch.

Specs:
-Hard disk: at least 80GB
-RAM: at least 2GB
-Battery: not less than 3.5hrs (after fully charged).

Usage: Surfing, online trading and watching movies.

I don't need great sound card or graphic cards for playing games.

Thank you all in advance

Hi! I am desperately in need of a laptop since I'm going off to uni next month! Any recommendation would be highly appreciated. I'm really noob in this area, so I definitely need your help! T^T

Brand: Not Acer/BenQ/Asus/Lenovo/Sony
(Remarks: I like HP laptops alot, but if you have better suggestions PLEASE feel free to post it here)

Budget: 3~3.5k

Usage: Gaming mostly, I need a laptop that can support Blade & Soul, or any other high-end MMORPGs. If not, a laptop that can support most MMORPGs would be nice. I will also surf the net alot and do assignments. Movies and music is a MUST in my life biggrin.gif

Specs: Good graphic and sound card
At least 2GB of RAM
Battery life atleast 2~3 hours(Fully Charged)

Additional Stuff: Nice Design, light and durable. Good Processor. Also, not easily overheated.

hm astria, not sure if this correct specs, but roughly like this.. at 4.2-ish K ringgit,

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26GHz (assuming it'll be the P8400? long batt life lur)
2GB Memory
160GB hard drive1
SD card slot
Built-in 7-hour battery2
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics

@kumataro, long nice long list of unwanted brands.... well there's the dell sxps 1555 fits ur requirements if u can take 15.6" also you can get like a 900p screen and still stay in budget iirc. or go for HP lor, important you like the laptop no?

As i read through this forum, Dell inspiron and studio 15, HP, and Asus is the popular brand been discussed.

As i feel that Dell studio 15 easier to get heat, any suggestion on what spec and brand suit my requirement as below:-

Brand: Not Asus and Acer, prefer Dell, Hp or Compaq, BenQ under consideration too

Price: <3000

Size: 14-15 inch

Spec: Duo core Processor, 2-4GB memory with no sharing basic graphic card

Purpose: Net stuffing, movie, music listening, some light gaming, working and some charting analysis

I am not going to play game with my laptop so often, just some online frash game or even old game like diablo2 only.

The main concern for me is i dont hope to get an easier overheat laptop as it'll be mobile all the time with me.

I am not demanding on good GPU, just as normal and can lasting for 3-4 years is good enough.

I am going for an economics laptop, medium performancing and pretty good budgeting laptop only.

Any good suggestion?

less than 3k ....
full fill ur requirement for Diablo 2 to run smooth & nice speaker for song & movie .... i think HP Dv3 ?? It come with antenna & TV control.
(I love that control while reading slide show & nice in presentation ^^ look like abit noob noob pro ^^)
P7350 with n105M G 512 mb Price i think is RM3099 higher RM99... I try to get discount lo .... but it's 13' dont know nice or not for you ??

If want to buy compaq better go ASUS K40 or K50 series ~ It's reasonable but you reject them (hv nice ASUS bag ^^, Honestly Hp bag not very nice ~)
Or toshiba ?? Satellite RM 2600++ go get Toshiba Brochure ^^ If scared AMD go to get intel processor ^^

Hard to recommend bcoz I only read ASUS & Toshiba brochure for this PC fair. Hvnt go to get HP & else ...

Do you prefer spect 1st or design 1st ??

Again Studio 15 is a good performance laptop to own. I can say many laptop with good performance GC sure will get heat easily compare to integrated GC. If u prefer no heat can go for desktop or buy an external keyboard to plug in ur laptop when gaming.

Thanks for your recomendation tplcaik.

1. Is 9-cell batery heavier than 6-cell? by how much kg or pound? and how long extra 9 cell can tahan compare to 6-cell?

2. Any comment on HP Pavilion dv3.....(i can't remember the full number)? Is it AMD or intel core 2 duo processor? i heard it's quite lightweight oso.

3. Wat happened to Dell vostro? seldom heard of it now. I was recommend to get vostro few months back. But didn't see the model anymore.

4. How bout toshiba and fujitsu, any lightweight and cheap ones that can meet my criterias?

5. Do you also have any specs on Sony (less than RM4k), I beliv beside the price, sony would meet all my criterias (light, processor, ram, etc), am i right?

Thanks in advance.
