QUOTE(bikz @ Jul 6 2009, 01:36 AM)
afta lot of research, and going to shops to test out... i;ve narrowed my choices to these two laptops:
1) Toshiba Satelite (forgot the model L300 series i think)
-Intel Dual Core t4XXX
-DDRII 3gb
-Intel x4500 graphics
-other specs forgot d...
-Price = RM1699

2) Hp Compaq CQ-40 (i think...)
-AMD Turio X2
-DDRII 3gb
-ATI 3450
-other specs forgot...
-Price = RM1940

so my main questions are: the Compaq more worth the 240 bux??
and is there lot of difference between the intel dual core and amd turion??
and which has better after sale services, in terms of warranty and stuffs....
*
Go for HP CQ40-401AX which u stated above. It has better proc + ATI grahic performance. Nice outlook too.. thumbup.gif

dun give wrong info bro...

to be precise, Centrino 2 = 45nm Penryn C2D (T9000, P9000, P8000, P7000 and T6000) + Intel 4 series chipset (GM47, PM45, GM45, GS45)+ Intel 5000 series wifi adapter

it's all abt maximum compatibility among the 3 most impt hardware in a laptop...
*
Opps..I heard that when attend HP launch the Centrino 2 laptop event. May be that is just the laptop spec.

Hmm..

Dell Studio XPS 16
512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3670, 4GB (2 X 2GB) Dual Channel 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM

BenQ S57
ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4650,  DDRII-800 1GB and above ( max to 4.0GB)

I'm noob at hardwares here.. So does the SXPS's RAM is better than S57 and S57's graphic card is better than SXPS?
*
Xps 16 Ram is faster but u feel nothing when compare with S57. Both using higher spec. While if talk about gaming sure s57 better cos use higher range GC.What game are u playing? If interested with xps 16 may refer to my sign. smile.gif

QUOTE(davidlow7 @ Jul 30 2009, 06:00 PM)
Hi

Basically I am not comparing them two but just need to know the individual feedback such as Heart dispersing.. Materials made for each model respectively

If HP 540 can provide enough durability and heat dispersing.. I will take.

Price is around RM1800

Pavilion is RM3800

Both are already difference class but I am just into normal usage (internet i.e) and I wouldn't mind taking an over-powered DV4 if HP540 have some known issues i.e unstable, heat, durability etc..

Thanks
*
HP540 is a good choice and more than enough for ur usage. Not need waste RM2k unless u like the design. I sold 25+ unit HP540 without complain as its is business class HP laptop. This laptop is much better then netbook. thumbup.gif

QUOTE(J(o)y @ Aug 1 2009, 11:19 PM)
Dear all,

I need some recomendation to get my first laptop. The following are my several criterias.

Most important criteria:
1. Prefer less than 2kg, including battery (not so prefer but can also consider up to 2.5kg)
2. Updated and fast processor, such as Intel Core 2 duo (don't want AMD, atom or something similar)
3. Laptop, not netbook.

Brand: Preference for Dell, HP (not HPcompaq), Fujitsu and Toshiba as these few are mostly recomended. Whereas, acer, asus and HPcompaq are not recomended.

Budget: RM2.5K to 4K (preferably around RM3k).  Therefore i cannot afford any iMac.  If any Sony can meet all my objectives, but below RM4k do list it out also.

Size: 12inch to 15inch.

Specs:
-Hard disk: at least 80GB
-RAM: at least 2GB
-Battery: not less than 3.5hrs (after fully charged).

Usage: Surfing, online trading and watching movies.

I don't need great sound card or graphic cards for playing games.

Thank you all in advance
*

Hi! I am desperately in need of a laptop since I'm going off to uni next month! Any recommendation would be highly appreciated. I'm really noob in this area, so I definitely need your help! T^T

Brand: Not Acer/BenQ/Asus/Lenovo/Sony
(Remarks: I like HP laptops alot, but if you have better suggestions PLEASE feel free to post it here)

Budget: 3~3.5k

Usage: Gaming mostly, I need a laptop that can support Blade & Soul, or any other high-end MMORPGs. If not, a laptop that can support most MMORPGs would be nice. I will also surf the net alot and do assignments. Movies and music is a MUST in my life biggrin.gif

Specs: Good graphic and sound card
          At least 2GB of RAM
Battery life atleast 2~3 hours(Fully Charged)

Additional Stuff: Nice Design, light and durable. Good Processor. Also, not easily overheated.
*
Dell studio 15 is the best option. Its cheap, nice design, good graphic card & spec can be customize if u prefer higher processor or any smile.gif

Thats y it sell like hot cake now. Need wait 3weeks for Dell delivery to buyer. smile.gif

If u wan enjoy and nice design can top up a bit budget to get xps16. Really great machine to own. smile.gif

QUOTE(TsYap @ Aug 2 2009, 10:43 AM)
Laptop Newbie here, I plan to get a laptop as my 1st laptop.

As i read through this forum, Dell inspiron and studio 15, HP, and Asus is the popular brand been discussed.

As i feel that Dell studio 15 easier to get heat, any suggestion on what spec and brand suit my requirement as below:-

Brand: Not Asus and Acer, prefer Dell, Hp or Compaq, BenQ under consideration too

Price: <3000

Size: 14-15 inch

Spec: Duo core Processor, 2-4GB memory with no sharing basic graphic card

Purpose: Net stuffing, movie, music listening, some light gaming, working and some charting analysis
*
Again Studio 15 is a good performance laptop to own. I can say many laptop with good performance GC sure will get heat easily compare to integrated GC. If u prefer no heat can go for desktop or buy an external keyboard to plug in ur laptop when gaming.

QUOTE(WMfan @ Aug 6 2009, 05:15 PM)
Thank you guys miahahaha and astria.
So, I am making a rough comparison below:

1. Processor
- Acer 3810T: Core 2 Duo CPU U9400, 3 MB L2 Cache, 1.40GHz, 800MHz
- Dell Inspiron 13: Intel® Core™ Duo P7350 (2.0GHz /1066MHz FSB / 3MB) : this is not C2D, right?

  > what is the performance gap between the two?
I saw the most popular processor in the market is intel core 2 due T6500, 2.1 Ghz. Is this higher in perfomance than the CPU U9400 and P7350?

2. Memory:
- Acer 3810T: 4GB, 1066MHz DDR2
- Dell Inspiron 13: 4GB Dual-channel 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM
> which one is better? 1066mhz or 800mhz?
3. Graphics
-  Acer 3810T: Intel GMA 4500MHD (integrated)
  - Dell Inspiron 13: ATI Mobility RadeonTM  HD 4330
    > I guess ATi is better, right?

4. Battery: I expect at least 3 hours when wifi connected.

5. Temperature: anyone can help? i have no idea but the less hot the better when running. Supposedly no need to buy a cooler rclxm9.gif

I can not afford any model with price above Rm3k.

Thanks & look 4ward to your further advice.
*
1) U r comparing diff class processor. SU9400 for energy saving or long battery life. P7350 sure much better than Su9400.
2) 1066mhz should be DDR3 RAM. Not much diff on this.
3) Yup Ati HD4330 better than integrated of course smile.gif
4) Timeline is ur choice. Inspiron last 2 hours only.
5) Inspiron is hotter (performance proc + dedicated GC)

Conclusion: Acer timeline suit u more if u not gaming on this.
