Can anyone explain the Maxis plan to me?

http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/iphone/rateplan1.asp#rate

We will start from iValue Plan (12 month contract)

So, if I want to buy 16gb (iValue 4), I would have to pay RM 1470 for the down payment, and pay for RM 375 x 12 months = RM 4,500. And I have to pay for an advance payment of RM 1000.

Total up, means 1470 + 4500 + 1000 = RM 6970 ?

the downpayment would be paid to you back little by little, means they're going to minus off from your bill. the 375 x 12 months is inclusive of usage, a few thousand smses, a few hours of talk time, a few gb of 3g usage. it's all written there.

How come no MMS no video phone can consider 3G?
*
It has the capabilities of using the 3G network. It's the same as SE's w950i, it has 3G capabilities but there's no video call function.

I bought my officially unlocked iPhone 3g 16gb for around 2.8k, Maxis' price is not bad if you compare it actually. The only thing is that you'll be tied down to them for 1 whole year depending on the plan you took.

i dun think there is such plan for iphone..max contract is 24 months only.

24 months RM375 per month for call & data usage, advance payment RM2k (which will be deducted for your first few months maxis bill), and u get the iphone 8gb free or RM260 for iphone 16gb.

the advance payment NOT for the Iphone but paid in advance for your maxis bill.

Yes ur right, tat's exactly what i thought also... but i was dissappointed when i read the small prints down there.. It's only for domestic calls only and smses are not included. I make overseas call a lot and sends sms like mad, those plans are seriously useless for me.. Kinda retarded to limit calls to only domestics, y can't they just use back the value plan that they had? Using this minutes plan reminds me of Celcom a lot.. shakehead.gif

Do anyone know that Maxis Official unlocked iphone 3g are pre-configured with Maxis APN? Mean when you change to other telco, you cannot change APN(Access Point Name). so you cannot use internet services.

iphone cost so little in UK and US zzz >RM2,000 16gig

UK and US = iPhone's are locked to O2 UK and AT&T. (In other words, your iPhone will not work with other mobile networks). That's why it is cheap. You wanna know the price of the officially unlocked iPhone? It's close to 600 Pounds for the 16GB.

What Maxis is offering is pretty reasonable if you ask me. Except for the fact that they don't include SMS-es. I'll wait until I head back to Malaysia and get it if Maxis improves the deal with unlimited data usage and reasonable limit of texts and calls.

Someone mentioned this in an earlier thread somewhere. IIRC, Maxis Iphones are preconfigured with Maxis APN. However, when you insert other telcos simcard the APN settings page reappears and you can configure your telco's settings.

The main problem I had was that while the plans were reasonable, they were too rigid. If your usage fits into the plans then it's great, but for me (heavy sms heavy data, super low chat), it made more financial sense to get a value 50 + unlimited data for 150 a month and just get an unlocked singtel set.

I ask the question in this thread before..but still dont have the answer...so i take initiatives and call Maxis

then press 6 for iphone and choose talk to the operator

then i ask about wether Extra Ten available for iValue or not

after checking for a while and put me on hold...they say that Yes,there's Extra Tten for iValue Plan and I ask her again wether its confirm and not same as Extra SMS and she says Yes..Confirm

anyway for u to clarify, try call them back

okay let say my usage is around RM60...another RM 30 i gave topup for someone..still valid with 100 per month isnt it?
